WIP: "King's Arm Highway" - route & scenarios

Hi everyone.

Though I'm still a 'noob' in many ways with this wonderful program and the whole train-simming scene, I've really become excited and immersed with RailWorks recently and decided to jump in at the creative side of things.

This is my first attempt at making a complete working route along with some scenarios and I've already put in a fairly big chunk of time and work on this project. Its a fictional route that I'm calling the "King's Arm Highway". It gets it's name from a prominent mountain, called "King's Mountain", that has a couple of rocky ledge-like paths, or "arms", called the "King's Arm Pass" that lead to it.

There will also be a variety of landscapes you will drive your train through; country, farms, rivers, mountains, suburbs, etc...
I will also try to have a few scenarios with it which I will try to make interesting and fun to play.

It will take a few weeks (or a bit more perhaps) before I feel my project is reaching a Beta Test Stage, so I'm putting the call out now to see if I can get at least a couple of members here that would be interested to help me beta-test my route and scenarios to help find any bugs and to give comments and constructive feedback.

For now I'm creating my scenarios using the "Challenger" stock add-on (as I feel its such a great engine that seems to suite the route and scenarios very well), with everything else default-RW stock and assets.
However after that, I plan on making a version of the scenarios completely compatible with just default-RW stock and assets as well. So let me know if you're interested here, then when its ready to test I'll contact you (probably via PM on these forums) to let you know where to download it.

Below I'll now share a few work-in-production shots to give you a little taste of what some of my route may look like. Of course I will be adding more details to more of the route as I continue to work on it. Keep in mind the below screen-shots are resized smaller and saved in jpg format for internet sharing convenience.

+ Your train just about to go over a bridge at peaceful little river area. Way off in the background (upper right) you can see a shadowy glimpse of King's Mountain waiting for you:

+ Coming out of the tunnel on the other side of King's Mountain, the train will descend down towards King's Market district:

I may soon share more new screen-shots as my project continues to take shape.
Thanks for your interest, and stay tuned. :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. Its much appreciated.

I've still been working hard on this project and making good progress.
I continue to build onto the route, adding more details, as well as working on a couple of more scenarios.

Below is a couple of more screen-shots from another scenario, which I call "King's Coal". Its on a cold and snowy winter morning, and the small town of King's Reach is running low on it's supply of coal.

+ "King's Coal Engine 0001" has just picked up a load of coal-hoppers from King's Coal & Gravel Yard:

I've added a working waterfall on my route. The effect looks fairly nice.
Here's a screen-shot of a view approaching the tunnel entrance to King's Mountain. On the right side you can see part of the water-fall streaming down:

Mark: Thanks for the kind comments and that you're looking forward to seeing my route in action. I hope the route & scenarios I'm making will live up to expectations. So far I think I've put in over a couple-hundred hours on this project, and there's lots more I want to add to it yet.

I am still somewhat a 'noob' to RailWorks and Train-simming, though I'm learning tons now and getting the overall hang of things, and this route & scenarios is also a way for me to learn how to use the RW Editor and what it can do... so hopefully people will be forgiving of me if my route is lacking or not polished in some ways.

But I may have a request of you; would you be interested in the near-future of helping me when I think it's ready for the beta-testing stage? I'd like to get at least a couple of people on-board with this project as beta-testers to help me see if they find any problems, and give me their comments, constructive feedback and suggestions.

Cheers! -- Don.

Hi again. Just a quick update regarding my route. Despite having some little set-backs during editing (a couple of times the program "crashed" on me after making some edits and additions), things are still going full-steam-ahead with my project and progress is coming along nicely.

Greetings again fellow RailWorkers.

I've still been working hard on my route & scenarios these last couple of months. It's been in early beta-testing stage recently with the kind help of some people in the RailWorks community. I've been getting some good feedback, making more improvements, fixing a few problems, tweaking some things and gradually adding in more scenery items to some sparse looking areas.

I'll keep working hard on it, and I hope that within a few more weeks it may be ready for release.
In the meantime, here's a couple more recent screenshots:
