Missing Content in DLC Routes

Post by Dave4468 »

How do I fix/get missing content for DLC routes.

I've just purchased WCML-N and am amazed at it bar a few issues. There are some areas where the OHL is magically hovering without any supports holding it up, quite a bit on the actual "main" route of the WCML rather than the extra lines around Edinburgh so I cant imagine its a matter of oversight. There is also at least one railway bridge missing on the WCML somewhere near Shieldmuir (I didn't note exactly where), it looks like it should be a big bridge over a fairly large river but the line (again the WCML itself) is magically hovering above the river.

Is that caused by a corrupted or incomplete download. Can it be fixed? I cannot imagine a route that comes so highly praised is missing stuff like that.

First thing to check before suspecting an incomplete download is the "Scenery Detail" setting in the "Graphical Details" options screen in the game. If it's too low objects won't appear on the screen even if they're all present and correct on your PC. Depending on your hardware you may have to experiment with that setting to strike a balance between missing objects and smooth gameplay.

P.S. If you have got items missing from the installation the easiest way to get them to download again is to follow the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" routine in the Steam client. The procedure is explained here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=116849

That appears to have fixed it. I need to obviously drive the whole route to see if the catenary problem is solved but the missing bridges seem to be fixed now.

FWIW Steam download 248 files, pretty terrible (I think).

On further investigation its fixed some but broken some other stuff.

Bridges seem to be the most often missing items, some don't seem to load and a few I've noticed (rail bridges) seem to have their buttress on one side and then not on the other and then mirrored at the other end, i.e opposite corners, if bottom left and top right have a buttress top left and bottom right don't.

Catenary is better but stiff missing in places. Scenery Detail is set to 8.

Try setting your scenery detail to maximum.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

I'll try that next. I've just driven the whole route and a fair bit of stuff has appeared but there is still a fair bit of stuff missing, a few overbridges are the most noticeable but still missing caternary supports in places.

Which is the number one symptom of it being set at 8. :D
