Who wants Railworks?

Some time ago I bought Railworks, described in the manuals as Rail Simulator2.
I had problems getting it started and little success at running any scenario. I foolishly bought a copy of Tallyllyn Adventure , but had no more luck with that.

Today I decided to give it another go. It was something like three quarters of an hour before the system would accept that my Serial Numbers, passwords and secret questions were in fact valid, after which I re-installed physics X etc. I nearly gave up at that stage

All I had to do now was get started. But every attempt finished with the Activating Steam screen telling me near the end of a long session that my PC could not contact Steam. However it has no difficulty whatsoever in contacting any other site that I log into.

So, who wants to buy an almost unused copy of Railworks and Talyllyn Adventure? YOu can send me a pm!

Tony (the disgusted one)

Are you going to sell (illegally) your Steam account as well? Because you would have to.

It sounds as though you simply have a very old version of the Steam Client installed. It no longer talks the same language as the current Steam servers - I believe the disconnect was when SteamGuard was introduced - and therefore cannot update itself.

Easy fix: go to http://steampowered.com/ and download and install the latest version of the Steam Client. It should then be able to talk to the servers, update Railworks to version 3(!) and get you going.

Or if you delete everything but Steam.exe in the Steam folder and then run it, it will self-repair.

Not if it's too old to contact the Steam servers any more, it won't.

Perhaps try doing a Clean Install of Steam:
