Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to delete some of the default routes and trains eg. the German and American ones. I will never use these and I don't want them to show up in the list if thats possible without deleting anything that other routes would be dependant on.

Also when I install the Class 111 Pack and WCML North, consist errors pop up?

James.

They can be deleted by finding the route number, and then deleting the relevant content folder in the Railworks files. However, if you are running Steam online, any update or cache verification will simply re-download and install them again.

How do you mean "install"? On purchasing these, you should not have to perform any physical install.

Why Package Manager? Where did you buy them?

No, you can't.

Sector95 - from where exactly did you obtain RW and/or the default routes?

I thought it was the addons he "obtained" from somewhere that are giving him trouble (for good reason I suspect) and that the issue with the default routes was the desire to delete them because he wasn't interested in non-UK content.

Unless the OP has genuinely been misled into believing these are free addons, I would suggest the thread be locked and the member banned since both of the payware products mentioned here involved content made by other UKTS members. His profile shows his age as only 16, but that's no excuse as the youth of today are very tech-savvy and world-savvy in general.

:-? :-? Hi all,

No you've all got the wrong end of the stick assuming I illegally downloaded RW and the add-ons. I got RW for £12 at CEX and it was the Tornado verson with that add-on pre-installed. It upgraded itself to RW2 that very night and a friend who fixes computers said that he would lend me some add-ons to set me up because I was reluctant to move from MSTS. I opened Railworks 2 and tried to find out how to install my add-ons so I assumed package mananger would do it and I clicked install and clicked the file to install.

I didn't illegally do anything? I have been on this forum for a year created content for MSTS, I just wanted to get to grips with the latest and greatest. I don't think it's very nice to speak for all teenagers when you chat about them for no good reason etc. I am one of the decent and moral teenagers out there, I don't do drugs, alcohol or hang around corners causing havoc.

If it clears my name I'll take a picture of my copy of Railworks and the receipt?

And no I don't have red bushy hair, wear an eyepatch or look remotely like a pirate!

The bottom line is that your friend was breaching copyright law in "lending" you add-ons to install, as you were when you installed them. The only legitimate software is that which you either buy yourself or download yourself as freeware.

As has been said above, it's simply not possible to buy either the default RW routes or the 101 & WCML add-ons as .rwp files for installation. Certainly the default routes should have come with your copy of RW. If you've purchased the 101 and WCML packs from Steam (the only genuine source) you should not have consist errors as the packs come with everything needed to run them.

You will appreciate that things don't quite add up here and hence the obvious suspicion that the files are pirated. You may not have realised it, but that's just as illegal as copying a CD.

I'd welcome your comments and explanation please, by PM if you wish.

It is indeed possible to delete some of the default routes and vehicles, but I would strongly advise against it.

The main reason for this is that most add-on routes, scenarios and vehicles will rely on the default content being present, at a minimum. Deleting default stuff makes it increasingly likely that these add-ons will malfunction - indeed with the same types of errors as you encountered with your attempt to install commercial addons in a nonstandard way.

If, as you suggested, you want to make your own routes, vehicles and scenarios, you will want the greatest variety of choice in which assets to use to build them. Deleting default stuff at this early stage would be a distinct own-goal.

Fortunately, the beauty of Steam is that fixing such a mutilation of your installation is easy - just follow these instructions: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=116849
