Can anyone help / advise. Do any of the UK turntables actually accept large UK steam engines (ie. V2 or larger) ?
I am trying to recreate an actual layout which needs one and I am getting extremely frustrated in trying to get the engine 'dead centre' - if that is the problem. I have had many other obstacles and one by one with the help of tutorials and this forum I am making progress - but this one takes the biscuit for creating despair rather than an enjoyable hobby.
Thanks,

Re: UK TURNTABLES
I've had something large on the turntable at Bath, I don't remember exactly what it was. Yeah, it's a major pain, but then I guess it's quite tricky to balance IRL too.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Re: UK TURNTABLES
From what I remember, the turntables in RW are limited by the length of the loco over the buffers, rather than the wheelbase as in real life. There has been discussion about this before, and the longer locos definitely don't fit. Maybe it is time for someone to build a 70ft turntable.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Thanks for your replies. At least for the moment I will stop trying as I know it's not me. I presume for now I will try a US/German turntable which looks bigger but definitely does not look correct. It would be great if someone was to make a larger UK table to go with the larger DLC UK engines. or maybe adjust the settings on one of the existing turntables to accept overhanging buffers but not wheels - is this possible? is it something that I could do if it was explained how?
Thanks

I think just the color of the workman's house on it is different. Except of that, same model, same size. Maybe some details here and there are different too, but they look very much the same.sweep54 wrote:Thanks for your replies. At least for the moment I will stop trying as I know it's not me. Re: UK TURNTABLES
I presume that you meant that there is only the colour difference when talking about the US and German variants. To my knowledge a typical UK table generally doesn't have a workman's cabin (someone correct me if I'm wrong), or at least the one I require doesn't. Ideally I would like a turntable which is typical in UK appearance but large enough to accept a larger engine. I thank you for your comments and as mentioned previously - as this is all that is available it will have to do for know. But if anyone knows of such a beast or how to modify an existing one I would be very grateful.

Re: UK TURNTABLES
The track length of the default RW turntables are Bath 20m Hagen and US 26m.
Someone did produce a larger US turntable (30m) some time ago.
You will find it for download under Railsim (not RW) scenery files at Trainsim.com.
I have never used it myself but from memory it does not have an operator's hut and might be suitable for a UK route.

Re: UK TURNTABLES
Thanks, that's good to know. I am going to have to compromise for now. The 20mtr turntable visually looks correct for size for the engines and for my layout purposes - but the game settings don't allow the two to go together . 26mtr is really a bit too big, so 30mtr is a no-no. Therefore I will have to compromise on the non UK 26mtr version (unfortunately with worker's cabin).
Maybe I can ask our wonderful game creators to make the UK steam fans happy and produce a usable UK turntable to compliment the ever growing list of larger steam engines in the DLC they produce.. I understand this is an long standing debate - what do you say?
