I know that this is probably a supject that has been folgged to death but how do you install third party addon trains???
I have just downloaded David Brindley's 4-EPB and have tried to follow the instructions to install the train into the simulator but I cannot see it in the list of trains. I am fairly computer litterate, I dont have any problems installing packages manually in FS2004, but what documentation was supplied with railworks dosent seem very helpfull.
I Have unziped the 4-EPB file, and used the pakage installer to add it, but it doesn't appear in the train list. The instructions supplied with the package say you have to create a consist, and I konw what this is but do you do it through the editor? Even in editor mode the EPB doesn't appear in the list. Do I have to manually transfer the installed package to another folder from the location that the installer put it in?
Any help anyone can shed on this would be greatly received
Kind Regards to all for the festive season
Andy

Re: How to install addon trains???
Hello Andy & welcome to the Forums. I would suggest looking at the video in this link http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 3&t=111393
IIRC, the EPB will be listed under DRB_Simstuff.

Re: How to install addon trains???
Hi .
Most addons contain .rwp files which are often zipped. Just unzip the .rwp file.
When you start up railworks you get a splash screen with tabs along the top.
Click on the package manager tab . You get a screen with an install button on the right 2nd down. Click install and navigate to your .rwp file -click open .

Re: How to install addon trains???
Thanks for the help so far,
The problem is:-
I unzipped the EPB file and in my unzipped folder the EPB folder has a .rwp file in it.
I started railworks and installed the package by navigating to my unzipped folder.
The EPB file appears to be installed in its own addon subdirectory and not within the Electric folder that contains the electric locos that came with the Railworks simulator.
Do i have to move the EPB files complete, (manually) to this folder in order to see it? I was expecting to see the train and be able to use it in free play, or am i in error.
Do i have to create a scnerio and then add the train? If so i cant see it in the list of trains in the editor menu
I realise the error is most probably mine, so any further help would be appreciated
Kind regards
Andy

As malkymackay stated earlier the EPB will be listed under DRB_Simstuff.
I believe that may be what you need to do.Wikkus wrote: In scenario edit mode, click the little blue cube with the orange r/h arrow-head on it; it's below the larger blue cube in the Object Set Selection Window as depicted here:
This will bring out a flyout-window on the right like this:
Use the drop-down box to find the asset provider you want to use; in the case of the 08 it's RSDL, in the case of the payware 8F, it's RSC.
These providers' assets will now be available to use in this route.
Hope this helps,
Rgds, Rik.

Re: How to install addon trains???
Thanks for the help so far, I still have no joy, Im clicking on the blue box with the arrow, but no asset pop-up appears, im wondering if the pakage installer has installed the pakage correctly? I certianly cant find DRB_simstuff anywhere, unless i navigate to it using windows explorer, I did manually move the EPB folder to the DRB_Simstuff folder with no joy there either.
Im still convinced im at fault somhow but im at a loss to where.
Regards
andy

There will be a flyout window on the right hand side: it won't pop out on it's own, you need to mouseover the grey area on the right side of the screen. In that window click DRB_Simstuff.
Make sure the EPB folder is in the right place after you've moved it around. <Railworks>\Assets\DRB_SimStuff\UK\RailVehicles\Electric\EPB

My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.
