West Coast won't work

Post by saffy98 »

Hi,
I have just downloaded WCML and cant get it work at all.

First I tried a Free roam at Carlisle, and when it loaded I got Consist Builder cant load rail vehichle MK3a First Executive, Mk3a Buffet Executive and MK3a second Executive. I get the same happen with Polmadie Hop, whilst on Carstairs split I get a Black screen with the scenario details but the computer locks up and I have to reboot.

I have been running railworks since May, Its a brand new machine with windows 7 and fully updated graphics by Nvidia, and I run great usually, does anyone have the same problem? or does anyone have any Ideas please....?

Thanks a lot

Steve.

Hi,

Further to my post above I have downloaded the scenario FROSTY FREIGHTLINER, and that works fine, apart from I really need to study how to drive these
beasties because I bumped, Banged and derailed a little further on.

I dont know whats happening now as the sim seems to work on this scenario but none of the others, it seems to be a rolling stock issue?

Thanks again

Steve,

As you say you seem to be missing the necessary stock to run some of the supplied scenarios. The easiest way to sort it out is to make sure you're connected to Steam and then verify the game cache. If you've not done it before the procedure is as follows:

Right click on RailWorks in Steam and select properties. Select the Local files tab and click on Verify Integrity of game cache. Steam will check your installation and download any missing content.

Aside from trying the Verify integrity of game cache option, I'd also suggest to use the Clear Cache button (especially after having a new addon installed).
From the initial RailWorks launch window, and before clicking on the Start button, first click on the Tools & Docs tab, then where it reads to "Clear the blueprint cache" click on the "Clear Cache" button. Then Start RailWorks and see it that helps to fix things.

Steve,

You might like to try LoneWolfDon's suggestion first, it's a lot quicker! If it makes no difference go for verify cache.

You are missing the Oovee Buffer HST stock, which was added to the WCML download after it was first released.

The method recommended by Railsimulator.com was to close down Steam (Exit from a right click on the Steam icon on your task bar) and then restart it.

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Hi,

:D BINGO...... Thanks guys for all your help, I tried the method that Andy suggested to verify the cache and it said that 23 FILES FAILED. It then downloaded the missing files and it now works brilliantly. Thanks to all three of you Andy L, LonewolfDon and Alanch.

Thanks once again.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I have cleared the Blueprint cache but still no movement of Class 86s. Yet the HSTs move without problem.

You can only drive the 86 in Expert mode - are you?

I have scoured these columns but cannot find anything that tells me how to drive in expert mode.
Can anyone point me to the link.

Alan,

Have you read the how to drive manual that comes with the pack? It's in the ....Steam\SteamApps\common\railworks\Manuals\EN folder. It's not brilliant but it's a start! There's also this post: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1336090, and probably a few others. Note that unless you modify the loco as I explain here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 4&t=109683, the Run Down notch doesn't work at the moment.

Hope that helps.
