Double or triple header
Hi
Warining Noob alert beginner question:
Does railworks support running diesel loco's in multiple? That is if I connect 2 loco's together are they working in unison to give double horse power or am I simply just pulling the other loco's.
If I have my 2 loco's on a train in push pull configuartion is the rear engine helping to move the train or is it idling and being hauled by the lead loco?
Reason I ask is although when I switch cabs it cycles through all cabs of all loco's on the train indicating that Railwors knows I have more than one loco attached to a train however when I am moving the train the other loco other than the lead loco appear to be idling.
Second question, when you couple up a train manually using Ctrl+Shift+c Railworks shows bolt connecting the loco to the train but it does not show all the olter pipes etc connected up, have I coupled the train proprly or is this the equivelent of me forcing a couple up to incompatible rolloing stock. Once I manually couple a train how do I uncouple it!! I cant seem to disconnect the train from the loco, tried Ctrl +_ Shift+C etc
Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, although the loco appears to be idling, you are receiving the power. It is just a similar situation to the rear powercar not "working" on the HST.msmith4000 wrote:Hi

As for uncoupling, you do it in the F3 HUD. Just press F3 and you will see the one of the tabs to change to coupling/uncoupling mode.

Re: Double or triple header
Welcome to the forum,
In answer to your second question, it all depends what it is that you want to couple to. Some British rolling stock only have couplers, coaching stock and HST's click together so you cannot see the coupling afterwards anyway, but, there are some wagons that have air pipes visually and you need the Hose.bin file and Hoses.GeoPcDx file in the relevant folder of each item. Now, these files I found on an American locomotive, I'll give you a link to a website when I find it and you can download them and manually pop it into the folders yourself. You'll need to inspect each item of rolling stock to see which have pipes and hoses and which don't and I'm not 100% sure if it works on British stuff, I'm only going on "information received" from a reliable source within the American community.....

Re: Double or triple header
That sounds very interesting, Steve, I had no idea. Will it enable UK stock to actually show "connected pipes" when coupling?

Re: Double or triple header
Hello Manuel, I noticed on the Summers Iron Ore hoppers in Sly's Class 56 pack yesterday that they have hoses attached as well as couplings, and I was going to test this theory out, so, give me an hour or so and I'll see if I can find the hose.bin file and see if it works.

Re: Double or triple header
Nah, I've been trying for the last 3 hours, but, I cannot get it to work on any British stuff.
If you have Dick Cowen's GP9 Payware, it'll work on all those locomotives OK and maybe on some wagons that have hoses available, but, I haven't experimented on any American rolling stock yet.
Thing is, I found 2 lots of hose.bin files and GeoPcdx files, so, I've had to do a lot of swapping around, to no avail.....
I'll have to concede then, bit of a pity really as having coupled hoses would have looked good.....

Re: Double or triple header
This is something I've just been working on, I'd seen it on other wagons and thought my wagons should have this...

I don't think it's really possible to do just by swapping files, the animation needs setting up within the source file and then exported.
