Changing trains over a distance in Free Roam

When playing free roam, if I have driven one train to the end of the route, and want to "fly" to the other end of the route and drive a different train, I find that the "8" viewing mode only allows you to "fly" a very short distance! Is there some kind of list of available trains, or a way of "detaching" yourself from the train you are currently driving?
If not, it seems Free Roam is a bit limited in it's flexibility.

In Free Roam, you need to set yourself up some vehicles at wherever you would wish to change trains. The "8" key as you say will only permit you to travel 2 kms from the original train.

Ah. There really should be a "detach from locomotive" button. I assumed this had been changed in RW (I know RS had the 2km limit), but apparently not.
Anyone know why this limit has been imposed?

Another way to fly around the route is to use the route markers as described in Section 2.2.4. Navigation Tab, on page 10 of the Creator Manual. Use the 2D map view (key 9) first to look around the route to see where other trains are, and if the author has placed a route marker at that location, or nearby, use it to fly there.

Does that work even after a train has been selected?

You can click on the globe after playing with a loco in freeroam and then save it, it doesn't save what you've just done, however, it will then take you back to the start of the session, so, if you have a few consists already set up, you can keep going back to drive them one after the other.
