A bit of help please.

Post by oldgreyowl »

I am playing on the Severn Valley route and have gathered all the stock down in the yard at Kidderminster.

Over the next few days I want to mess about in the yard using all this stock.

I have done all this in the Freeroam scenario that came with the route and have just kept saving as progress was made.

My question is:

How do I create another scenario from the latest save so that the scenario starts with all the stock in the yard, in other words a scenario named Kidderminster Yardwork ?

Please make it easy for an old timer to understand.

Simply, in RW ..... you can't, or at least using a new scenario marker, as this removes all existing stock.

But perhaps RW Tools may be able to help you.

Hi Keith,
But perhaps RW Tools may be able to help you.
Have you tried using the "Clone the Scenario with a new name" box found in 'Edit Scenarios' of RWTools, that may do what you want.

Rob, will that clone the scenario as it was at the last save, or will it just clone the scenario from the start?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry, I'm not sure Keith as I haven't used it, but try cloning the Scenario and check it, if not how you want you can delete it.

Using RW_Tools to clone a scenario would make a duplicate version of the whole scenario (from the start).

However, it may be possible to use RW_Tools to make and load different save points as you like (another thing RailWorks seems to be lacking is the ability to have multiple save points for a scenario).

See the following thread for more info on how you might use RW_Tools to save or load in a different saves for a scenario:

most notably, see Clockmaker's post, 3rd post on that thread, with some details of how this could be done.

Many thanks LWD, and many thanks to everyone else for your suggestions.

As Richard Marsh once said, " We are getting there".
