Hi Jon
Those pics seem to be from the San Andreas version, which I think is the only one in the series where you can actually climb in and drive trains.

Hi
Thanks Colin......... have you tried this game?
I just wonder if it would make a reasonable train sim game
Or are the routes short.... and the train physics poor?

Circular route. Near-nonexistant physics. Great fun, if you like killing people horribly...

I'd agree with Peter RE the physics of the thing! I have the PS2 version mind you, but I doubt the PC version differs much.
Would be interesting to see if the new train models change things, but you'll still have the Hornby style tight radius corners

i have the PC verison of the game it is good, and the physic's on the trains is rubbish but is good fun espically near the level crossings. But the trains are rare to find though

I have the the spanish AVE100 mod which replaces the Brown Streak train in the game. Its great fun to drive but you have to watch yourself on the curves though because this thing goes dangerously fast and I failed a few train missions by taking the corner too tast. Unlike in MSTS, you cannot turn the derailments off. Also if you want to jack a train in GTA:SA. Just make sure that you have the MP-5 as the Varrio Los Aztecas gang attacks you if you hang around Unity Station

. To install these Locomotive and wagon add-ons. You will have to use IMG tool 3.

I find the Minigun even better for deterring rival gangs..!
Must try some of these train mods once I've played through a bit more and opened up Las Venturas.
Incidentally it looks as if trains will be in GTA IV. There's a preview video on the Rockstar site which shows what appears to be a surface rapid transit line. Hopefully we will get to do our tube driver thing!

Can you drive-by's in these?

To do 'drive-bys' you may have to jump on top of a carriage, then crouch down and take aim.........
Only tried this a couple of times, and I found that the train goes too fast to be able to get any true aim on any target.
What I would like to know is how do I increase the number of wagons on a train ?
The passenger train has 3 carriages at the moment, but I want to increase that to about 7 or 8 carriages.
The freight train has a varied number of wagons, but I notice that they are only ever flat wagons.
Which file do I need to open to change the type of wagon and number of wagons ?
