Changing to X-Tracks

Created by Okrasa Ghia as a set of extended track pieces designed to coincide with the default track that comes with MSTS, XTracks has become one of the most essential additions that you must have on your machine since most routes make use of it.

Changing to X-Tracks

Post by menacery6 »

I have partly built a route using standard track but find I don't have sufficient track sections to make the track prototypical, I Decided to use X-Tracks to complete the route, and have installed according to the instructions, and used Horace. However each time I try to add a crossover from X-Tracks the route crashes and I have to re-instal. can I just use the X-Tracks sections I need without adding all the shapes?. Or Do i have to rebuild the route from scratch. Not an option. The route is for personal use only and would not be distributed.

Just seeking more information. Is this crossover the first x-track shape you are installing? Do you get the problem with any x-track shape, or just this crossover shape? Have you installed the latest tsection.dat file in the global folder?

All shapes load into my route OK, the problem seems to be dynamic track. at this section I want to remodel there are three dynamic sections. I have tried deleting these, saved and exited route editor, and gone back in to install the X-Overs but then trying to save after installing the cross overs and short sections of x-track crashes it.The shapes are in global with the t section dat, and the textures are in my route. I Definately think the dynamic tracks are the cause of this. unless anyone thinks otherwise.

You say you have run Horace, but it sounds like it hasn’t done what it should.
The purpouse of Horace is to adjust ids of dynamic and static track
sections when you do changes to the global tsection.dat file. One such
situation is when you install the 'standardized tsection.dat' for using
XTracks, New Roads, Scale Rail or the like. If you don't adjust the ids
your route will loose all dynamic track sections as soon as you add a
another dynamic track. Updating from one build of the 'standardized
tsection.dat' to a later build you do not need to perform this update.
In other words, the standardised global tsection.dat and the local, route, tsection.dat have to be in sync.

What is the ID of the first item in your route’s tsection.dat file? 40000? 376?

376 is the value in the default routes, so Horace hasn't taken, and that will be why you are still having problems. Check any newer route and the value is likely to be 40000.

When Horace works it should kick out a report something like this (partial),

Code: Select all

Route tsection.dat
Sections shifted 39624 positions, shapes shifted 39737 positions.

w-006351+014974.w - 1 dynamic tracks - *
w-006351+014975.w - 3 dynamic tracks - *
w-006351+014976.w
w-006352+014974.w - 1 dynamic tracks - *
w-006352+014975.w - 4 dynamic tracks - *

Total 18 w-files, 14 files affected, 0 file errors..

Success, It was Horace, I downloaded from a different site and reinstalled it and everything is now O.K, Thanks for your help, I don't think I would have done it without your experience.
