UKFS Development release V3.1.4
I have just released UKFS development beta release V3.1.4b, full details can be found at http://www.trainsimfiles.com/products/ukfs/ukfsdev
Note: this is only for route builders who want to get involved in testing, or using, new shapes before they are available for general use.
Beta testers are welcome - please report any issues/faults to me as soon as they arise.
Full installation details are available from the link above.

Thanks.
I forgot a vital component - for those testing/using the 3rd and 4th rail shapes you need to download a new ukfs_rail.ace file -http://www.trainsimfiles.com/products/u ... s_rail.zip
The reason for this is I have used new texture mappings so that the 3rd rail is independent from the normal rails - the 4th rail also independent. The insulators are also independent for 3rd and 4th rails, and the mapping simplified to make repainting much easier. Only the new 3rd rail shapes will appear with the new mappings, until all the existing shapes have been updated - and with new 6-sided insulators (much more realistic).
All the models in this release are using a vastly improved LOD setup, so there are far less polygons for the far LOD's than before. All existing shapes will be upgraded over time.

A list is available from that link, but I'll post a direct link here anyway

Documentation will be available soon for these.

Because I'm close to releasing my route I hadn't better install the new sections, however I've looked at them with SView and am very impressed. If they were fully available I'd be busy replacing some of the curves with the new checkrail versions already!

The checkrails are the correct distance from the rail - I have recently found details of the nominal flange gap. The current turnouts and crossings will be updated accordingly, so they will look better - these are to be rebuilt anyway for other improvements.
I'm also going to add checkrailed interworking curves in the next release, along with checkrail start/end sections.

Tim,
Do the new checkrailed sections use the same trackpath data (from tsection.dat) as the equivalant existing non-checkrailed ones?
Reason I ask is that I don't what to (can't now!) do a track database re-build so I'm hoping that I can just manually change the .s file names in the world tile files.

Stuart, after I input the new track shape data into tsection.dat I just replaced the track pieces I wanted to be checkrailed in RE and saved, then ran those areas through the sim without any problems. I didn't have to change the path in AE. So I would reckon no rebuild would have to be done if you were to simply change the world files.

They have the same paths so, in theory, you can just delete the standard curves and replace with the checkrailed ones. However, if you have any platform markers, etc., covering those shapes then RE might not like it.
Basically, if RE lets you delete the old shape and insert a new shape, without any path or interactives being disturbed, then everything is ok.
Once done, check fully that all paths and interactives are valid and working. Of course, make sure you backup a route before replacing trackwork.

Note for short slip switch users:
The new short slip switches need to have their paths adjusted so they fit the slip correctly - the original slip switches were not properly configured, and can be difficult to align, but I forgot to use new curve path values for the slip switches. I won't be changing the normal slip switches, since this will cause problems to route builders. All new slips will use the short slip method to prevent close proximity of back-to-back slip switches, which also makes slips easier to lay.

Kerr, thanks for your advice, but as I've platform markers, sigs and sound regions placed I'm concerned that deleting track in RE might change Track ID's / Track Item numbers. These seem very flakey if messed with.
Tim, thanks for advising that the track paths are the same. That means I can just update the file names in the .w files without causing any problems.
