Sarah Siddons
At the risk of being a tease, I am putting these shots of my latest model up.
As is the practice with the Virtual District Team, it will be released as a complete pack, with custom cab. That means a lot of hard work for Darren, researching and making the cab and also for Jimi in getting the sound and physics just right and in weaving his magic in getting the whole thing together (I have the easy bit in just making the loco).
In other words, don't hold your breath just yet for its release. The chaps are still finishing off the Battery loco. But I do like to keep them on their toes! And it is our aim to make each model better than the last.
Anyway, introducing Miss Sarah Siddons.

You got a straw Darren? All I got was a package containing an ancient wiring diagram, an old light bulb with one blown fillament and a wax cylinder recording of electric motor sounds. Media Player is having a hard time with it.
I love doing these old ones - they have character!
/Jimi (digging out WA Agnew's treatise on electric motors for reference)

Only 19 more to do!
Hi Richard,
Lovely looking loco only 19 more to do in four liveries!!!! John Milton in the drab wartime grey was to be seen in the gods at Ealing Common depot for many years along with a ransome steam crane. This one would be a good reskin and no lining to do. Nameplate was removed when it became no longer in passenger sevice or more probably not restored after the war effort's removal. It was used as a service loco works trains etc.
I have an extended play 45 RPM record with sound files of these locos pulling into stations and moveing off again. made 1961 so probably out of copyright? Have to check that, but if interested I will try and download the files digitally. I am not sure if the BATS team are doing this loco as well for the Great Central Baker St to Aylesbury or Amersham in the 1950/60's
Thanks to all the team.

Again, Richard has come up with a truly amazing model - possibly his best ever IMHO. This also needs a unique cab and control system, physics, sounds, etc. It will likely be next after the Battery.
All the above have needed considerable research to accomplish, and will take a while for us to get "right". We do take pride in getting our trains as realistic as possible in every respect. 3 of the team were at the recent Acton open day taking video and photos of a lot of cabs, stock details, etc. It's likely we'll also be doing a Q Stock in the future (clerestory roof), and maybe other old ones.
As always, when there's something to show, you'll see it. These projects are taking more time than usual due to their 'age' and our need to get historical information. Plus spare time for this hobby is sometimes harder to find. Thanks for your patience - it will be worth it.
Best, Jimi (on behalf of the VDL Trains Team).
Cheers

Re: Sarah Siddons
Hi Jon,
Richard's model for MSTS is finished and has been for some time. The only thing preventing the release is the cab which is being constructed by me at the moment. At the time i was working on the R49 3D cab but now that is finished i am getting as much done as possible for Sarah with the material i have available. Once again this will be a 3D cab. Unfortunately photographic material for this is becomming extremely hard to come by at the moment but rest assured i will try everything in my power to get more pics. I'll even see if i can get permission to visit her in the depot at Ruislip. I'm off to the newly refurbished London Transport Museum on Decemeber 8th so hopefully will be able to get some pics of the one there. Maybe Richard could release the model with a default cab then we release and update for the cab. Other than that it is still WIP.

Re: Sarah Siddons
I think sending a model out without one of Darren or Jimi's cabs would be like sending England out without Wayne Rooney. And I don't own an umbrella!
