Just dropping by for a refresher visit to see how you were getting along. It's looking lovely, super attention to detail and the grime and weeds really bring the urban scene to life.

Had a nice ride on the 438's on Sunday when I was in the IOW. Very bumpy, but thats because Steve and I were sitting over the front bogies. Only went to Shanklin and Back.

I'l wont bother doing the stock now as someone has beaten me to it.

Err, your screenshots show a superb-looking route. It's really magnificent, I'm very impressed! After 23 years of riding another system that's entirely underground, it's a real delight after such a long absence to recognize the above-ground characteristics of that one from your custom objects.

What can I say: wow!

Cheers,

You must be right - 'cos it feels like I've been building it forever :D
It's taken the Metropolitan & District Railway over 100 years to get it to it's current state. I hope to take somewhat less time with the simulated version. All I can tell you is it's progressing as fast as my spare time allows. I will make every effort to get something usable (but no where near complete) out this year.

Thanks to everyone for your continued interest and support.

Best, Jimi

Hi Jimi

Hang on in there. I for one will happily wait patiently for a route as good as this one looks. Having used the District and Hammersmith and City Lines on and off all my life I was gob smacked by the initial screen shots of Ealing Broadway and the interiors of the stock take me back 30+ years to when I road them daily.

Don't rush it out as a compromise. It looks far too good for that. LBE sounded a great route but I'm afraid I was disappointed by what someone else called "a rather Lego land appearance" and some sections of track that seem to derail at the slightest provocation.

How much of the route are you looking at for a first release? Mid East UK didn’t reach Kings Cross until the Update but was (and still is) a great route in both versions.

In the days I used it you’d frequently see trains like the picture below, especially in the rush hour. Must be the only LT line ever to mix stock like this?

Keep up the good work

I think this freeware route would be better than the payware LBE. :D

It wasn't "mixed". It was the Q stock, but it wasn't a brand new one. It was converted from older trailers, like the (prototype)1960 stock.

Er what can I say.......

Hi Stooopid :-? ...... you didn't leave your name  .

If you take a closer look at this train there are 3 different types in the one train. I've got a blackand white shot of a similar mix, taken I believe at East Ham, but I cant get the link from Atomic Album to show it for some reason.....

I'll have another go at posting it or just the linkat the end of this.

It was from East Ham that I actually travelled on such "mixed" trains in about 1969/70. They only used to appear during the rush hours. The Q stock were rather ancient but had good seats and window sills....... very handy for dozing off with your head in your hand after a hard day! Like Pullmans compared to the mobile Urinal/Rubbish Bin stock that operates today. It was some culture shock to change from a Q stock train to what still constitutes the Hammersmith and City stock that had just been introduced around then.

The Q stock were rather rattly and I remember (I'm sure some Underground/Electric traction buff can explain this) they used to occasionally jerk with a loud clonk, as if they'd missed a gear change... it would jerk everyone around and get standing passengers grabbing for a strap or a pole.

Anyway the B/W picture if it'll behave this time....

Seems to work now, keep forgetting the "nogapsfilenamethingy"

The lower one is obviously mixed "East Ham?"

And I just noticed that the last coach on the bigger pic has also got flared skirts. I'm not too up on these types. Must buy a book on them.

By the way these are downloaded from a great site on the underground that I've lost the link for. I meant to give them a credit.

One is

ANother one is from the European Railway Gallery

It doesn't seem to work for me right now so I can't give you the direct link for that.
The Q stock wasn't "mixed" All the cars in that train have been classified "Q" stock, so it isn't mixed! Before they were classified as Q stock, then they were mixed, which is the same for the 1960 stock!

Further to my last.....

Found the link for the web site that I found the Q stock pictures on. Worth a visit, although I guess most regular readers of this forum will have found it anyway.

http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~gsgleaves/london10.htm

With the Metropolitan Electric Loco's, Steam Stock and slam door coaches there's shed loads of room for development and activities here.

Simmers might even be able to devise a timetable that works?!!!

Anyone any idea for what the .eng script for (traction motor falls off and derails train)??

Apologies to any reader who may have been affected by these incidents. My comment was more of a dig at LU than a cheap laugh at the victims.

Hi Stooopid,

Thanks for the links. Tubeprune is of course my source for the colour shot of the Q stock and I was busy searching for the credit for the B/Ws whilst you were posting your links.

http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~gsgleaves/london1.htm is the first page of the site with the B/Ws - loads of info. It's part of the Suburban Electric Railway association site which is excellent. (Also why I'd misplaced the link)

Just read my own suggested link on the Q stock and see what you mean about the classification.

One things for sure if someone makes some models to create a "Q Stock" consist, as good as the stuff already out there, no one will be able to call the trains boring!

All someone has to do is to create a G stock.
Then you could use the G stock motor cars and couple them onto the CO/CP stock trailers, then, you'll get a Q stock!
