Hello!I am MihaiBogdan a member of the uktrainsim.I have a question.When I download something from uktrainsim file's library a message appears above,in a space:"This advert banner is helping to sponsor your download, if you can't see it then there is a risk that future free access to the site will become restricted. Please disable your banner and pop-up blocking software for this site to help fund free access.
While you're waiting for your download, why not visit one of the advertisers?"

Can you tell me please if this is the banner or my free account will be closed?If yes,can you help me with some instructions to see the banner?Thank you and please forgive me if I've done something wrong!This site is amazing and I really like it because it's unique and I don't want to stop on being a member.

UKTS would not close accounts but the amount of free bandwidth might be restricted further if it becomes uneconomic to run it. Matt keeps this under review. The free bandwidth was increased somewhat in December 2007.

If you can't see the advert then you could check if you are running an ad-blocker. How to do that depends on what software you are using. I don't recall seeing any ads last time I used my test account but that could be because Firefox is blocking them.

The reason the notice asks you to unblock banner ads and visit them is that many of the advertisers pay according to the number of clicks on their ad from the site, so even if you don't actually buy anything from them, just clicking on the ad helps produce revenue for the site. Of course, if you choose to pay for premium membership then there are no ads and no restrictions; nobody forces anyone to take premium membership, by the way - but if you choose to, there are benefits - no ads and unrestricted downloads being the two prime examples.

Ok!I understand,but where are the advertisements to click on them and what is the bandwidth?I use Internet Explorer browser and I also have installed the Mozilla Firefox browser I will uninstall it if this is the real problem.

I have never seen adverts there - I believe Matt took them off about a year ago after he decided they caused him more work than they gained him back.

Yes the ads were taken off, more trouble than they were worth. If I can't rely on them to put out good quality ads then i'd rather not have them at all.

I really ought to take the comment off the page really! I'll look in to it.

Firefox itself wouldn't be the problem. Only add-ons like Adblock can actually remove ads, the base version has no more power than IE in removing ads automatically (apart from pop-ups, which both of the latest versions of each are able to remove).

Hi all
I have the same problem. I don't see the banners - is this the case with everyone because they've been deleted?
I'm using IE 7 and I don't think I've got an ad blocker.

Matt already said he had removed the adverts and the wording needs changing when he gets time.
