I know there are some slight teething troubles but just a note to say thanks and congratulations to all involved on the server change, its brilliant and the swiftness in which it was done was commendable, thanks for keeping us updated all the way through.

Thanks Daniel. Matt has done a tremendous amount of work and a number of other people have been very active in testing things before everything went live and checking once things had gone live.

I played a small part in that and finally turned in last night around 11:30pm only to get a "day job" call-out at 3:25am and then spent the next 6 hours in conference calls and trying to sort the day job problems out.

I know Matt is still working hard behind the scenes to sort out the remaining problems but from what I have seen the throughput is much better. This was noticed in work due to my high speed downloads triggering network alarms

Another one for the list.....

Unless there are new names or it already on the "to do" list, the email server appears to not be responding. I keep getting a connect failure with Outlook.

My atomic webmail has been running fine all day. Don't use the POP3 version. The outbound email is having problems according to an email I had from Pete earlier via alternative means.

all fine here.

I'd also like to add my words of praise to Matt for the ease of the transition for those of us mere users.

Apologies to everyone for any problems experienced, it's actually not working too badly but there are one or two fairly big problems (like not being able to pay for anything!!) that I am working on at the moment...

I had a quick look at things like Album but I can't see why they're not resolving correctly, I need to check the DNS WHOIS records and see what they're set to - maybe they're different to the other ones.

I'm getting there slowly, and the hair that's left is leaving quickly! :)

Thanks for your patience and support.

Hi Matt
I think it is because using the [album] 'shortcut' in the forums .... still points to .com where as the server is now .co.uk
Images display fine (If too large) not using the shortcut but using the [img] tag.
The MRCE 189 file has now failed to download five times on non-premium..... just keeps timing out.
The update to a thread emails, do not seem to be working.
Cheers
Jon

The .com *should* work as well as .co.uk - it's just DNS that's screwing me up as usual, I think it's going to the wrong DNS server, or it's going to both and just returning random answers depending on who gets back fastest or something daft. I'll get on to that in a moment - DNS is a bit of voodoo at the server side imho!

Anyway, CD orders and subscriptions now work ok, i've just gone through one of each all the way through and they work perfectly. Let me know if you have any problems there.

I've updated loads of DNS values on the OLD server to point to the new machine, so if it IS getting values from the old DNS server it should now have the right ones - restart dns client / machine / reboot router yadda yadda and see if album etc work better now.

Thanks everyone, keep up the feedback, i'm working my way through it slowly.

Oh, and I *will* get something done about that download server as soon as I can.

The pictures in that page doesn't seem to exist in the directory on the server, hence they're not showing up. I've emailed the uploader to find out how he did it so I can re-test it and see what goes wrong.

Thanks

Matt.
