Rick, my passion for the GER is well known, but the point of the post was to try to ascertain just why steam is not so popular on MSTS. Colour and variety are possible reasons, and that's what I tried to convey. The age and experience of members is another one; younger members have not have the experience of seeing steam 'in the flesh' as part of normal railway operations the way we oldsters did.
I don't know if there's an answer to the original question; to my mind, splitting into steam and everything else would be a bad move. It's all trains at the moment, let's keep it that way.

Picking up on Rickloaders comments and diverting this thread briefly, Ive long thought that screenshots should show some accreditation for the work of the persons concerned. As an activity writer I dont mind my work being shown off in the screenshot forum, but i feel that details of the route, route author and my input should be acknowledged.
It takes but a moment to start a series of screenshots with "Route xxx by xxx ; Activity xxx by xxx ; " In the case of a loco it could be " Loco xxx by xxx ( or loco xxx by xxx repaint by yyy) shown running on the xxx route by xxx.
A few lines of simple acknowlegement would by welcomed by a lot of contributors Im sure.

Re: MSTS Steam Scene
Hi
Personally I always try to comment positively, on all contributions.
I think there has been a massive drop in virtual railways over the last 12 months ..... a weeks worth of posts (50% of them are help calls about KRS) is about the same as a days worth a couple of years back.... I hope things improve again.
I don't think there would be many screenshots of UKTS CD activities, as most of the current Cd's contain very old models.
Cheers
Jon
