Download Problems?

I have had a couple of people observe (via the RSDL Web site) that they are unable to download my two documents on RS Signalling.
When I tried (prem. membership) after clicking on the download arrow all I got was a white screen for both files (17690 and 17957). Obviousy they have been downloadable at some time previously by virtue of the number of downloads done.
Both these are pdf documents which are not wrapped in zip file, could this be an issue?

Yes. This is a known problem. When downloading PDF files you should right click and save the file rather than having the browser open it in real time. That way it will work.

Being pdf files should NOT present a problem. However, the adobe PDF plugin IS a problem on ALL browsers depending on Firewall/Antivirus settings etc. My suggestion would be to RIGHT CLICK / SAVE AS to download it, then open it from your own machine in Adobe Reader.
You have experienced at first hand what happens when the PLUGIN fails, you get the white screen.
Can I also suggest that you check your CTRL/ALT/DELETE Task Manager and make sure that you don't have any rogue Adobe Reader processes. Normally when the Plugin fails it leaves a rogue process running.

Thank-you gents for the response. I will direct the people with the problems to your solution.
Would it be better to wrap them up in a zip file even though it will not offer much in compression?

That is a personal choice thing.
The library happily supports a large number of pdf files, the TrainSim Monthly Files as an example.
