Probably not difficult at all.

The majority of the work would be on the physics....

Very very easily, thats why l've been spending months trying to get them into Max, it is so much better than Gmax for rendering and work flow and it has many more exporter options, right now l'm only looking at MSTS2, KRS does not appeal to me and we have yet to see there attitude towards payware, right now it is a very low poly MSTS2 model.

I hope to port over the rest of my steamers this week so l'll post some screen shots of those in the relevant forum, even though there currently the ownership of BATs, new ports to a new CAD package and a new sim will absolve that, right now thats the only way fwd, cant release them as MSTS due to previous mentioned issues.

Best

Michael

Excuse my tech-ignorance, but how easy would that then be to transfer to KRS or MSTS2?

Just a few observations and responses to some previous posts...

1st it's sad not to hear of any solutions to the main problems at BA :(
Hope they can be resolved because the future of the stock packs looks bleak in view of the problems you guy's have alluded to. SVR and the LMS pack will still be published by (is it?) Aerosoft I take it? ... oh and the Southern one too? The LNER packs and the the other stock CD's were BA only I believe?

2nd....and some good news. Those of you who've been following progress will know that Tim has been very much involved with Mid East Plus and had already donated the 124 class Trans Pennine DMU's to that route. We've tweaked the physics and added a passenger heads out view at the first carriage door (to aid with stopping them in the shortish platforms on the Cross Pennine part of the route) and the route will include (as far as I know at this time) both Green and BG versions. Laurie has written some acts for them too. Mick has all the tweaks Tim if you want to upload them.

3rd...Mickoo's wonderful freeware kettles are in the library on TS.com so go get 'em before someone decides they shouldn't be and pulls them  Search Michael Davies in the file search and they'll all pop up for you.
BTW Michael will they join the GWR one's you've got in the library here?
MEP is a BR blue route but personally I'm hoping folk will be inspired to write some steam activities for it when it's released so we can't have too many decent LNER/BR ER kettles.

4th ...and this is just in case there's a simple answer ( you see I CAN be an optimist occasionally  ), obviously if the issue is complicated we'll have to wait and see, the stock on the BATS stock CDs. If these cease to be issued will the stock be available as freeware?

5th....if someones prepared to host them would there be any objection to the BA Forum members reskins of the stock being uploaded elsewhere. I appreciate that whilst the stock for these is unavailable to new customers there must be a good few out there who bought them in the past and yet didn't download every reskin? ...oh you're all saddos like me eh?

Obviously there has to be some resolution of the current state of affairs before any concrete answers can be given to my last points but I mention them to be sure that at least they're on the agenda.

BTW I already mentioned CD patches to Kim in an e-mail so I know they're being considered. As we often end up reinstalling stuff or loose data it would be nice to have them all somewhere even if only for existing customers?

Hi Geoff,

I hope I can provide some answers for you to some of the issues raised

1 - The commercial packs, such as SR, LMS & SVR will still continue to be available, SVR was pucblished by Just Trains and the others via First Class Simulations (Contact Sales), and therefore will be availeble either via this site (except LMS) or via CS direct.

4 - BATS CDs - I cant answer that one at the current time, there are too many people involved and the dust has yet to settle to even think about what will happen to these products - more news will follow once the picture is clearer.

5 - Reskins - There are two issues here, the commercial reskins and the BATS CD reskins, we need to seek clarification on each one individually, and the commercial ones would be easier. I have all the installers done for SR, and some LMS and SVR ones on my PC, just need a green light to upload. Once that is clear we will seek permission through Matt, although we are a way off that at the moment.

I will take these issues away Geoff and talk amongst the others, however there are a lot of other things higher up the list at present, please bear with us and we will come back to you.

Regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

More than I could have hoped for at this point in time. It reassures me that no ones "thrown in the towel" so to speak.

The creative output was just too good to ditch so I'll leave it to you guy's to use that creativity in "bailing out". Your post makes the "boat" look a little more seaworthy than we might have imagined  .

The golden rule of any negotiation...don't stop talking to anyone.

Thanks for taking time to answer the issues.

Permission to upload is of course granted should the opportunity arise!

Geoff, anyone, all, the TS.com Kettles are released under my banner of FDB l think ?, so no one can get there clutches on them at all with out my specific permission :).

They used to be on UKTS but were pulled in that 'famous' act which now almost looks individual driven, by you know who, l'll not get burnt on that stunt again.

I will try and collect them and then post them up here for everyone, its a shame the site is going down tonight but l'll try with a few to begin with.

Reskins are more tricky and as Martin points out falls into two groups, BATs owned and sold ones and Contact Sales commercial ones, the latter l think can resume reskins once new contracts and ownership is sorted, the BATs ones may be a bit more problematical, however thats only a guideline as none of this is yet sorted, but we will get round to it like Martin says.

Hi Michael,

That's great news. I've been playing with reskins and racing your V2's up and down the ECML (as in MEP) recently in the vain hope that you might come up with a scenario like this :D

I have to admit I'd rather given up on finding UK stuff on TS.com but there's still a hardcore of "bigger picture" folk on there and the enthusiasm for "home grown" kettles seems to be on the increase.....or is that just my wishful thinking  .....?

Thats great!

Do you use background blueprints to do the modelling?

If so where do you get them?

Yes l use blueprints for modeling, its mandatory these days for accuracy.

Where do l get them...where ever l can, l've been collecting railway data for 30 years now, if l cant beg or borrow, l'll buy what l need, though there usually specialised books and cost a pretty penny, many are not even in English ( l'm not restricted to UK railways only for interest ).
