Small Forum Posting problem

Post by Lad491 »

Tonight, and very occasionally on other nights, when ive made a post and hit submit the screen sits with the little green bar at the bottom stalled at 2 or 3 bars and never completes. However, if i exit IE and then go back and check, my post is there.

Any thoughts about why this might be? Is there a server issue or is it more likely something at this end which is playing up?

I couldn't get on here for ages tonight. Some error screen like Internet explorer can not find this page nor UKTS.

Also Sometimes comes up with no post mode specified when I do a quick post.

I have had that a few times, don't know what causes it though! :(

Had that as well earlier on, the server must have fallen asleep!

There was a server problem earlier. 2 moderators contacted Matt who rebooted the servers when he got out of his meeting.

Kindest regards

I guess the servers are water cooled but somehow the water got swapped for alcohol

Good to hear that the Mods and Admin are doing a great job as usual, :D

Occasionally Apache and PHP gets their joint knickers in a knot and the whole thing grinds to a halt - and quite often when it happens once it happens a couple more times. I've no idea what actually causes it, whether there's a rogue script somewhere or something, but it just hangs and refuses to take more connections - it's not using any CPU or anything (which would be much easier to diagnose, because there'd be something using it all :) ), the machine is idle.

Apologies for the down time.

Matt.
