PMs

Post by ashgray »

Hi

I seem to be having trouble sending PMs these days. In the past, when I've sent one, a copy always resides in my Sent Box, but the last three don't - they're still in my outbox, seemingly unsent. Any clues as to where I'm going wrong anyone?

Cheers
Ashley

if they are still in your outbox, it just simply means that the person you sent it too hasnt not yet read it

Hi Ashley,

The PMs in your outbox have not yet been read using the forum. When they are read they move to the sent box. They may however have been read if the recipient has set up an auto-forward to another email address.

Cheers

When someone's been a bit cheeky and they see a mods name on a PM, they tend to develop a blind spot :)

Had a PM from Matt a few days ago and thought oh-oh!

I did look at it though as my curiosity outweighs my fear :)

Cheers

Got wise to that, John - which is why a 'naughty boy' PM from a mod now includes a footer to the effect that if you ignore it for more than 48 hours, your forum account is liable to be suspended until you get in touch.

What horrid mods we are...

That could be useful for be to get the PM's to go to my e-mal for reply as I am often on trips where e-mail is accessible but forums may not be.

How is this done?

Is it possible to find out when forwarding is occurring or set up some system to mark messages as read when they have been forwarded?

I currently have several messages sitting in my outbox, including one to Matt, which i dont want to delete just in case they haven't been read yet, but which are also cluttering up space. It would be very useful if, when an e mail forward takes place the message can be marked as read in my outbox.

Can you see the footer without opening the PM ?
Or are you relying on them reading it in the forum notification email, which for me includes the PM text as well.
