Hi, I was wondering why, after all the money you guys get from premium members (maybe me someday!) Why there are still only 5 download slots and 2k's per second? Especially when queues can get to about 40 downloads in the waiting list! I believe that is the record I have seen, or is it the server you are using?

Because premium membership pays for bandwidth for premium members.
Download slots for all the other customers are funded by:
* Banner advertising - which doesn't contribute much,
* a proportion of CD Sales revenue - not much after media, distribution and labour costs, and
* Matt's good will.
Noting that CD distribution has dropped off since 'you know what', I think it's remarkably kind of Matt to fund the free download slots.
The best way to get quicker downloads is to buy a community CD - there's still lots left. You then get a free month's premium membership - and fast downloads.
Cheers
Mike

Re: Download slots...
I'm sure that you'd appreciate it if you paid for premium membership and and the freeloaders as wellhertford wrote:Hi, I was wondering why, after all the money you guys get from premium members
It's 87 at the moment!
As you live in Sidney, which is, I believe, 8 hours behind the UK, then the best time to try to download files is when we are all tucked up in bed. I haven't had to do it for a while now, but I found that between 5a.m. and 7 a.m. our time (9p.m - 11p.m. your time), was the best time to try!
