Do you all think it is now time to forget and just move on FOR THE GOOD FUTURE OF UKTS and what we will have in the future.
Yes we are all angry myself included, there has been a few posts that I have refrained myself from venting my anger.
But I have seen what matt wrote and he has been trying to calm things down for all the benefit of us and I respect that.
I am in no way trying to belittle anybody but am saying this for all of us here on ukts.
We have a lot to look forward to with other train sims being released also.

Just my own observation so please dont take offense..

The point has clearly been reached where this is such a hot potato that logic dictates you have to back off as mud flung around has a habit of ending up where it wasn't meant to.

Let no one be under the idea that memories will be erased and discussion will continue somewhere. Actions are taken and people can't be whipped up and turned off at will.

Further discussions of this subject on UKTS does appear pointless.

The situation is now clear and while we're posting on here, we're not moving forwards.

And there are things to look forward to........

The CD replacement programme is moving ahead at great pace.

There's the Gowin to Knowear project to be completed.

There are routes under development to look forward to.

The first UKTrainSimLive event for 2006 is on the 20th/21st January.

There are two new simulators due for release this year.


And I've probably missed some.......

2006 WILL be a good year!

Here is some really good news

I have no objection to free downloads of routes containing my work and accept that there has to be funding to pay for bandwidth and other costs associated with running Ukts. What I would take exception to is any increase in premium membership to cover the costs of redistributing the routes affected by my actions. Not only would that amount to once again charging for freeware but would be designed to show me in a bad light.

But basically it means all UK freeware routes can be hosted on UKTS , in their current form.
Perhaps well see Skipton as a download....who knows.?

Further to this, Terry has now confirmed, that this does extend to stock used in activities for a route.
Therefore any route could appear in the download library, in its current form immediately.
This could include 'Skipton' by Pat Dalton, if he so wished.
There has been no agreement as to the pricing of UKTS distributed CDs.
Therefore these will continue to be replaced with different versions to the original routes.And obviously subject to the time constraints of producing suitable replacement objects.
The only problem to this I can for-see is packaged activities, where the different route build numbers, can cause problems.

Actually, I've had my birthday taken away for being too efficient.

route builds would only be affected (AFAIK) if you edit the track or road layout, as the solution the CD Replacement Programme is working on is to replace shape files like for like (or at least name for name) it shouldn't make a difference.

Tony is correct, swapping out 'dumb' scenery objects for others does not affect the tdb or rdb version.

I have stayed out of this discussion so far, but can you please let Terry know that I very much appreciate his decision to continue allowing the free download of routes that contain his files? I have two (modest) routes hosted here and they both make extensive use of Terry's objects. I don't know if I would have had the energy to re-open them and replace his objects with others.
