Downloading using NetScape

Post by jeastmond »

I use the NetScape browser, and I have previously been able to left click on the 'Download' button and the file requested has been downloaded using the NS Download Manager.

I don't know whether something has been done to the site, but this morning, I tried to downlod a few files, and left-clicking on the download button doesn't do anything, I have to right-click and choose 'Save Link Target As'.

While this is a good alternative, I can no longer use Download Manager as a reference of what I have previously downloaded to see if I have already downloaded files...

Any comments would be appreciated...

I use firefox myself, though I download through GetRight as I find the built in download manager to be very poor compared to others like GetRight - downloading is working great.

Sounds like something might have gone wrong with your browser if left clicking isn't doing anything though - perhaps you've tried to use a download manager or something and the install has got messed up?

I use Opera - built in password manager, built-in download manager, does almost everything - including news, mail, Java and Java script - and reskinnable.

I can't vouch for NIS, but Outlook Express is (now) independent of IE - it launches the browser you have designated as the default. I imagine NIS is the same.

I use Thunderbird now for my email too (also part of the mozilla project) and find that significantly better than Outlook or Outlook Express, the built in spam filtering is worth its weight in gold alone let alone the built in RSS handling and all manner of other nice features :)
