Misleading File Descriptions and Pictures

Post by petermakosch »

Okay, there are a number of files that have been uploaded recently, that clearly state that there is a "cabview included" and "sounds included". Both of which, are NOT included. Surely there has to be some sort of rule about this?
An example is found HERE and HERE

Hi Pete
I think you'll find this one does include the cabview and sounds.

The above (mentioned by Pete) says it has a consist(s) and some sounds, which it doesn't!

I have PMed the guy before on this, but he didnt ltake any notice. Many of his were the same, it happens that one that I picked out did include what it said. But then again, I might upload some loco, but call it something totally different, you know, auto install it, make it a big file so it looks like its a "full train" and boom, i'll get flack for it not being what it says.
Sorry, I know this is flamey, but I have had a bad evening. Basically the above is what could happen. I just am sick of downloading thins, expecting their to be a cabview included, then, there isnt.

This matter can be read either way, he has not actually said what sort of cabview is included. I'm guessing (not having opened the zip myself) its simply aliased to another cabview, if so then you can argue there is 1 included. He has being clever in his wording in that he simply says "Sounds included (tick), cab included (tick)" he has not actually said they are custom or anything. Not trying to have a go at you here Peter :).

There's also a problem with the recently uploaded "River Bridge": File ID: 10739.

After spending what seemed like an age in the queue, I downloaded this to find that it's nothing like the image in the library, but is in fact a "pack-horse bridge".

What's more, the readme title says it's a "Branch Line Goods Shed".

If the file name detail was added to the File Information page, then duplicates may get spotted sooner. It could be useful knwledge too to check it hasn't been downloaded before.

See what happens when you download plastic trains? Stick with a sulzer or two and a rake of mk1s and you won't go far wrong..... 8)

You also probably won't get very far very quickly either. But then the only time I've ever had a loco break down on me (apart from Nunney Kettle  ) was a "Duff" 47, whereas English Electric stuff never let me down, so perhaps I'm prejudiced...
