This is one of the most sensible things I have read all night :o

Always preview before posting and think about the impact of what you are posting. Basically - if you would not say it in a face to face situation then it is not a good idea to post it ?

I have a reputation at work for saying what I think and not sugar coating it. This has caused me problems in my annual performance reviews where the more sensitive members of our project are upset by my frank views.
Kindest regards

Buffy I think i would allways prefer you to stay obnoxious but up front about things. One thing did upset me though was your refference to steam engines.Kettles??????????????????? My god its obvious that you never saw a gorgeous well oiled,Well driven,Well maintaned,Well mannered coronation class steam engine puffing its way out of Preston station on a wet saturday afternoon in november 1952.Although as stated earlier in my post the remark did upset me i am not going to refer the matter to a moderator coz i dont like em. I am sorry if there is any spelling mistakes in this post but i lost my dikshanery earlier this weak when i bought a new monitor and re arranged me desktop. :)
P.S. to anybody who finds this post obnoxious its not meant to be.But its about time some members lightened up on these forums and started to enjoy life because like Herbert the wheel tapper said to me in August 1961"if you cant beat em never join em"

Pointless posting if you don't make it clear what's meant.

'You make me laugh' is a perfect example.

Smillies are there to be used if anyone's communication skills don't match that of their litaracy.

You're a joy in that I understand what you say, Alan. I think I do anyway :) Revelling in being a GOG will have predictable results though and you have to take the consequences.

Put simply, a poster's responses indicate how others see you.

If any poster continues to have trouble on the forums, the answer is literally, right under their nose :)

Boeing: Kettles are a universal nickname for steamers among the modern fraternity of the forum. There's so many of the things, a name like a Kettle is easier than remembering between County, Hall, Coronation, A4 etc.

He knows that.

He's on a wind-up :)

This whole thread started as one and I've been attempting to show how it's done and advising members ignore them.

The idea is to provoke some moderation and then they can moan about that as well :)

It's a game. I find it amusing although a bit sad.

Sad people are often the main characters in the most successful TV comedies :)

Once you get over that hurdle and see the wider picture, it's a piece of cake :)

Sit back and enjoy it as we have to have at least one thread about literacy and moderation or members would think they'd entered the wrong site :)

I'm shocked.

I certainly don't try and be obnoxious.

I just dont do PC pussy footing about. If someone deserves a verbal slap, they will get it.

Steam was well beyond my experience, so you are correct. I did not see anything in 1957 as I was born in 1968.
If you don't have a reference to something it is generally of less interest to you.
I was born in MU times, and thats what I am interested in.

A steam engine consists of something heating water, and turning it into steam. I got one of them on the kitchen worktop, I use it to make tea.
Its a light hearted reference to something I'm not overly interested or knowledgable about.
People call modern stuff plastic, which is technically incorrect too, but I take it for what it is.

Thats because you are an adult and actually keep things in proportion and don't have an inferiority complex.

To John it was not a wind up as such i promise,It was a try at a light hearted approach to our hobby.I am sure you will agree that some topics in recent weeks have been rather on the "heavy" side. The refference to Kettles amused me at the time i read buffys post and i know him well enough to know he would not take offence at my comments (Well i think i do) So there you have it,no harm done.no mention of libel suits,no alegations of "you pinched me cabs"and nothing to get up anybodys nose. :)

Unlike? is going to be the question asked.

Low self-esteem manifests itself in many ways and brashness is a much a sign as being quiet.

This has nothing to do with Site Admin, never had and meanders around in a meaningless fashion.

Thread locked.

If previous hints havn't permiated through yet, starting up somewhere else on this site would be really unwise.
