Dale, can you have a look at all the headers etc in one of these messages that have been sent to your spam folder and tell me if there's any information about a cause or reason? Maybe some hole has put the domain on a blacklist and that's what's causing it - normally these instances would be recorded in the message however, unless BT's anti-spam software really is that poor....

They just contain the usual items that you get with E-Mails:

and that is it, I think it may be bacause they are sent to a number of addrsses, I've had it happen with other mail that has been sent in bulk (Volunteering info For FfR) but I'll see if another complaint does the trick as before windows upgraded Internet Explorer (With out my permission!) to IE6 this did not happen!

Not sure if it's related yet but I started scouring the 'net and found a neat little util site at http://www.dnsstuff.com - one of its utils allows you to type an ip address in and it will find out if that address is on any of the thousands of black lists out there. As it turns out, while the main address wasn't on 99% of them, it had worked its way on to a couple of insignificant ones and one potentially disastrous one. I identified the reason for the latter, cured it and requested removal - which happened about 2 hours later, though the effects may not be fully felt until up to a week. I've also gone through the rest of the reported listings and made enquiries to have us removed from those also - although one of them demands $1,000 for even receiving your email, plus $250 per hour afterwards to check the site and remove it from the list - so if that turns out to be a problem listing then that's tough, people will just have to use a different email host that doesn't use that listing
Let's hope that's an end to it.

Yes i looked around on the 'net and there's lots of people peeved about this one, though as I say, it looks like it's only used by very few people and then not exclusively.
Most of them provide an automated means to have your system rechecked and if it passes the test for it to be automatically removed from the black list.

Trouble with BT now is that, unlike here, no one bothers to respond to messages, I suspect ours go into a their spam folder never to emerge!Garthion wrote:I get the notifications by E-Mail, but they All go into the spam folder of my btinternet account, no matter how many times I click NOT SPAM it always ends up in there, I've complained about it but nowt happens. Ah well just takes twice as long to retrieve my e-mails than it should.
Their complaint forms do not work (give errors) so am seriously debating whether to ditch BT unless they can get it back how it was when I started using their service. They don't ask if you want all these new bells and whistles that don't work. Often I can't even get into their bulk folder to see if anything has been blocked. It's all horribly pathetic with them now.

The server was classified as an open relay, so it's standard procedure for blacklists to add it - however it looks like it is a bug in the mail server that was causing it as the server is most definitely not configured to be an open relay - indeed, out of something like 25 checks that are performed it only failed one, but that's enough.
I've reconfigured the mail server to specifically block that situation, re-run their tests and confirmed it's ok, requested removal from the blacklist and they've re-tested and removed it from the blacklist.
Hopefully that's the end of it!

While we were trying to resolve this problem, I changed my "Profile" so that notifications went to my UKTS e-mail address. When it was resolved, I changed this back to my regular e-mail address.
Now I realise that forum post notifications are being e-mailed to my regular e-mail address, but new PM notifications are still being e-mailed to my UKTS e-mail address!
