Download problems
Can't seem to download anything at the moment. (yes I'm a premium member and yes I'm logged in!).
Are there problems generally?
John
I'm getting "cannot find server" after about 5 mins wait.

Tried a test download at 11:19 EDT - still getting 'Sending request to dltest.uktrainsim.com' over 4 minutes later. This suggests that the server is 'unavailable' for some reason. Maybe Matt's working some black magic instead of his usual kind....

'didn't read the forums'??? - Stands back in amazement
I deliberately didn't email as I thought you'd read the forums when you got the chance... Ah well.
As I said elsewhere, nothing is that life-or-death with MSTS that it can't wait a little while.

No I read the forums only when I get a chance - so if it's midnight and i am on the way to bed I will check email and then go to bed, if it's morning before work i check email then go, if son is up then i'll quickly scan email and then go back and so forth
forums are usually only when sat down and nothing more pressing is tugging at me (which doesn't happen that much these days!) - email however is given priority so that's easily the best way to get in touch and I have no problem with lots of people emailing me as it makes it clear to me it's a widespread problem and not a single instance perhaps where an ISP has had a minor glitch (happened a few times in the past, looked like the server was down to the person in question).
I think i've found the cause of the download server going to sleep, it seems to lose connection to the database and then spirals out of control unable to re-establish any more connections. I guess it's possibly not actually closing them or leaking them some how... i've got a new version of the database driver and if I can ever convince Visual Studio to re-install I will update to that and put some more trapping in the code to try and help diagnose it.
Matt.
