Browser Parasite Detection Installed

Post by NeutronIC »

Following a recommendation from Ian Morgan (ianm42) I have installed a neat little script on to both the forums and the main site that will check your system (it only takes a fraction of a second) to see if you have any browser parasites installed. Parasites are these things that pop up windows all over the place that might look like they are from a particular site you are visiting but actually they are not. They can also destabilise your system or worse - if it says you have something on your system then I strongly recommend you investigate removal of it as soon as possible.

The script comes from http://www.doxdesk.com and they also have detailed info and removal info about all of the parasites that the script can detect.

Matt.

Oh, I won't ask if it's just me seeing "Your browser has been checked for parasites. None were found. (However this script cannot detect all of them!)" at the top of each forum page then !

Takes me back to the nit nurse we had at school back in the 1970s/early 80s.

Nice one, Matt. :)

No... I'm communicating via telepathy to my keyboard and mouse, imagining what this topic looks like :P

Seriously, I see nothing!

Log out and you will see it. It does not seem to show on the forums once you have logged in.

Hi

Its at the very top of the screen, just under the grey border that surrounds the forum pages.
