Well, given I get some quite nasty complaints that we're trying to steal peoples money occasionally from people who swear blind they've sent the cheque and they haven't received their goods I can only assume they *did* actually send it and you are just in a good area (my parents are in a much better area too).
The fact that these people haven't seen the money come out of their account doesn't clue them in, but never mind!
Matt.

I got my confirmation yesterday and thank you for your very efficient and speedy response
It takes less than a week to arrive in Australia and thankfully our Australia Post deliverers' are all very courteous - I live in the "bush" in a suburb of Western Australia and my postman delivers on a motorbike each morning between 8.30am and 9.30am and usually gives me the mail personally with a friendly chat
Regards
Mike

Hi
Both my discs arrived together 08:30 prompt this morning
(although they were ordered a couple of days apart
)
However the biggest problem seems my machine cant read them....has the file format been changed?
So I've not been able to install

As a PS I've tried all my previous UKTraimsim addon discs and they're fine.

MEUK............ silver....... OKasalmon wrote:Its more likely the type of dye used in the CDR - do they look a different colour to the others?
Padd-Penzance... Blue... OK
Ruabon.............silver......OK
Big Verns 5 routes...Blue...OK
NWE2....silver....wont read
CC4......silver.....wont read
So I dont know...discs maybe a little thinner/ more flimsy....
There are a lot of cheap CD-R's floating round out there (freely admitting I have taken advantage of the odd 2 for 1 or buy 1 get 1 half price at WH Smith, Tesco etc.). Unfortunately not all these are up to standard - some are not as thick as they should be or have a very thin coating. PNY were reputed to fall in this category.
That said, the only batch of discs I had a 100% return rate on were some Dixons PC Line brand. That was in the days before I write-verified each disc and the ones that came back, just had gone a sort of milky colour on the writing surface not the usual fine lines you see - a bit like the "laser-rot" that used to affect the old 12" video laser discs.

Wow - I expected a little response to that post of mine, but not at that level. I thought everyone would jump on me for complaining about the complaints over CD deliveries, not the Post Office; that remark, if anything, was a compliment to the RM, not a brickbat..
Yes, the Royal Mail knocks spots off the USPS in terms of delivery time - which is why UPS, FedEx, Airborne Express and the rest have such a big slice of the business over here. However, to give them credit, the same 37c stamp which takes a letter to my neighbour will also take it to California, Florida, Alaska, or Hawaii, and they're a lot further apart than any two places in the UK. My mail arrives at around noon daily, and I at least get it in the mailbox on the porch (better than the paper which finishes up anywhere from the porch to next door's lawn!); two streets away is 'semi-rural' with the classic US mailbox at the end of the drive - but those folks can put a letter into the mailbox, put the flag up and the postie collects it! What we lose in one area, we gain in another.
My original point is still that I feel to wait seven days before asking what happened to an order is not unreasonable.

The problem with some people occasionally not being able to read discs is down to the fact that we burn at high speed, this is purely a time issue - if we burned at a more guaranteed 8 or maybe 10 speed, orders wouldn't go out for weeks when they get so huge as they do when a new CD comes out - remember they're burned one at a time and the last few shipments have been for over 200 CD's each.
We use quality branded discs, so don't worry about that
Every single CD is fully read tested before they get a label on them, so when they leave here, they *do* work.
Anyone who has a problem reading a CD should simply drop me a note with the names of the CD's, your order number for confirmation and your address, and we will do some special low speed burn ones for you and get them out.
Most people are fine, but occasionally there are people that have drives with lower intensity lasers and they have difficulty reading the higher speed burns.

Hi
I have received my "Slow Burn" CDs....many thanks Peter.
Unfortunately I'm still getting a failed to install on the stock file....file is corrupt message.
This is on my main machine is a WinXP Pro...fitted with a CD rewriter.
My wifes Fujitsu Ergo (36 speed I think).. cannot see the discs at all.
However my laptop which is an old Toshiba 750DVD...and has a 2 speed dvd drive can see the file...and would appear to be able to open it...(didn't complete as it was going to take 36 mins...and I haven't got MSTS on there anyway).
So looks like I'll have to do some file transfering...or some other work around.
Only applicable on these latest cds....previous cds(like Mideast uk etc) can even be read on my wifes machine...so something has changed
