Matt or Dave Babb...... File download problem

Post by runawaytrain »

Hi all ( Matt or Dave Babb will do :) )

Not sure if this is the right place to post but im having a problem downloading one file in particular, its really misbehaving :x

I have tried to download Dave Babbs Class 43 HST set in swallow livery (ID 7244 filename ICSwallowHST.zip) on numerous occasions and every time it gets to between 75 and 99 % I either get a Blue screen fatal error or worse still it justs reboots my pc there and then LOL and was wondering if theres a problem with this file or if anyone else has had a problem with this file ?
Im using the intercity eastcoast version for my speed fixes at the moment and wanted to ask this for a while but hadnt got round to it and would like to give the latest version a whizz round the track !
No problems with any other files and pc is virus free  please wave magic wand !

Dazed and confused of cyberspace :D

Its alway nice to know I'm a 'will do' kind of person !

Anyway I have just download the file you are talking about and it all appears ok here. It certainly downloaded to completion for me.

If you have a generous email provider and can take a 4mb file I can mail it to you if you can't download it.

Hi Dave

Thanks for your reply, I didnt mean it like that LOL you know we....
well I really appreciate your work, I should have used the FAO (for attention of) feature of my vocabulary LOL and only said "will do" with tongue in cheek hence the smilie, (takes breath)

Im 101 % sure theres nothing wrong with the file or it wouldnt have made it into the library its probably more my end ie steam powered pc, and being on AOL just pours petrol onto the fire !
Having said that mega size NWE route downloaded installed and runs fine so im definatly flumoxed and it cant be a filesize issue.

Im not sure how many suitcases my email will accept so I will look into this right now and see how kind AOL are, am I right in saying hotmail only allow 2MB ? be back shortly ...........

Cheers

2mb for mail, 1 mb for attachments, BUT you may be able to push it a little each way :D

Mail.com is free and has a 10mb inbox size (and I think allows 10mb attachments). :)

Thanks guys for all your replys and suggestions, just got off the phone to my ISP (they kept me a while), AOL allow 16 mb if its AOL to AOL and only 1.3 mb if its another ISP to AOL how mean is that LOL ! ive got Hotmail aswell but its not looking good sofar :(

Without labouring the issue is there a way forward like splitting the file in two or shall I look into the above mentioned freebie 10mb option ?

( I sure picked a fine time to quit drinkin :drinking: )

Many thanks for your input, Mail.com sounded really promising,

Oh well I suppose someone/something is trying to tell me to give up therefore on that note I take heed !

Once again guys thanks for all your replies (oh would you look at that, maybe poetry is the way forward)

all I can suggest that as the file is a valid file (as far as I can tell) you carry on trying to download it.

If you contact me on MSN I can swap it via file transfer too.

If downloading a file is causing reboots and blue screens then you need to be seriously checking your hardware, that sounds like a memory, motherboard or cpu problem...

Dave

Just a thought.... does the model require specific system requirments ie was it designed for todays machines or is it truely a "one size fits all"
model ? reason I ask is that last nights episode got me a blue screen lasting long enough for the downloads to exhaust :(
