Difficulty downloading the Bin Patch (Repaired 17/11/2014)

Post by slipperman12 »

Hi All,
There is a problem with obtaining MSTS Bin in the usual way. I have obtained this information from trainsim.com, where, thanks to Charles Stagg, this was posted :
ATTENTION Everyone.

On the web page http://mstsbin.uktrainsim.com/eng/eng.html
this is the URL you go to if you Click on Ver 1.8 Download button
http://www.blueboard.cz/dcounter.php?
hid=k42xfvonax5af9b6jc7a8pm35fxu4a&down=true&url=
http://mstsbin.uktrainsim.com/data/M...8.052113en.zip
That used to keep track of how many times the file was downloaded.

BUT the web site http://www.blueboard.cz in the first part of the URL
http://www.blueboard.cz/dcounter.php?hi ... 35fxu4a&do wn=true&url=
does not exist now so trying to download Bin by clicking on the "Download" button only gets to a page not found web page

However if one copies the URL and edits it to just the last portion
http://mstsbin.uktrainsim.com/data/MSTS ... 2113en.zip
and enters that into a Web Browser, then the download will work.

The Bin web site needs to be edited to remove the pass thru of the counter at
http://www.blueboard.cz
A similar procedure must be used to download the "Stable" or any other downloadable version.

Cheers,
Ged

Perhaps if the matter of failed MSTSBIN links been reported by PM or email, we could have fixed them earlier.

Posting the problem in the forum with the usual "Expert" workround doesn't fix the problem, it only perpetuates the problem.

All the Download links for MSTSBIN have been repaired and WORK correctly.

Hi Peter,
If I may; Ged's post highlights the issue and to see if anyone else is having the same problem IMHO? It gives a work-around, not that I have checked it yet myself.
Ged is a gentleman and a man whom is keen to help others.
Cheers

Andy,
I am quite aware that Ged is a gentleman whose intent is always to help others.
However, his post does NOT highlight the issue as it is a re-iteration of Charles Staggs findings elsewhere, so clearly others were already experiencing the issue.
Regards
Pete
