Downloads not working - is it me?

Post by Breedlings »

Hi all,

I've been trying to download some files for the past couple of hours and clicking on the link is just returning an error from the server (yes I do have a premium account  ) - any one else having problems tonight?

That sounds about right John, think it was just after 17:00 that I squeezed one out.

Also have been trying since about 16:00, at first couldn't get into the site. Have just tried again, error on server being reported.

I remind everyone of 911@atomic-systems.com or 999@atomic-systems.com or 112@atomic-systems.com in these scenarios :)

PLEASE let me know by this mechanism if the site stops working. I don't check the forums but a couple of times a day. Mail will be immediate.

Anyway, it was a database glitch, sorry - it should be working now.

Well that was bizarre. On Friday I changed the Apache configuration to switch off KeepAlives (don't worry if you don't know what they are). In doing so, the AtomIC Album, which for some bizarre reason had been performing like a total pig recently, suddenly sprang into life. As such I switched off KeepAlives on both servers, as UKTS also appeared to benefit. Whether thats an IE bug or an Apache I'm not sure, but nonetheless, switching off KeepAlives appears to break Download managers.

So, KeepAlives are switched back on again, but only on the UKTS server and they have a 1 second timeout. This seems to provide excellent response times for UKTS itself, and allows download managers (at least Getright) to work.

Regards,
Steve.
