Who moderates the moderators?

OK, so I don't post very often. I'm content to work away on developing my route whilst indulging in my second favourite spectator sport of reading these forums.
I read Matt's recent post - http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &sk=t&sd=a with interest, good idea. But since then I've been a little baffled over some of the moderator actions, particularly the bans imposed on some members.
This morning I was amazed to see these posts from a moderator:
http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1352091
http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 0#p1352129
With the poster's conclusion apprearing to be that Sly wants to 'feather his own nest', language which is a darned sight more vituperative than saying that Sly is motivated by profit. If I or any other poster had used phrases like I'm sure that we wouldn't have got away with it in the new climate. And then the poster locks the thread!!!
I don't deny that moderators have the right to an opinion but maybe when they do post personal opinions they should use a different username; as soon as we all see that username in green we assume the post is official.....
