Does this mean I'm off the drop hook, Phil? That model looks perfectly fine to me....I'll just nip down to the naval dockyard and hammer a few more rivets.

In the top photo, the coal looks like it's from the bargain bin, Sludge n Dross, Grade Z.

The bottom photo shows what looks like proper coal lumps, no dross.

5am in the morning at Barnstaple Town, on what looks like it's going to be a glorious day. A G.W.R 45xx, on Southern metals, approaches the station, on a local connecting service to Ilfracombe via Barnstaple Junction.

My thanks go to Phil Baines (eyore), for all of his hard work on the station model. I hope you've still got some hair left Phil :D

Some shots of the area between Braunton footbridge and Pilton footbridge.

Taken from Braunton footbridge looking towards Pilton. Town Mill is on the right and the L&B's wharf siding can be seen on the left.

Looking back towards Barnstaple Town station from Pilton Causeway. This is the mill leat heading towards the mill in the distance.

Taken from under Pilton footbridge, the piles of coal on the right mark the L&B's wharf. Goulds warehouse is in the distance.

Having passed over Pilton crossing a Lynton bound train can just be seen disappearing behind the fence as it passes through Pilton yard.

The screen shots are very enticing. They are miles better than some of the "model railway" appearance of more than a few new routes.

Great atmospheric screenies with nicely placed detailing.

Another modern route which actually looks real and not like a model railway. I am on tenterhooks waiting for it!

Thank you both for your complimentary replies.

(Tony, the L&B closed in 1935! Have a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynton_and ... le_Railway for a short history of the line.)

Gary,
Two thoughts;
I meant modern in the context of being a newly produced MSTS route!
I was born in 1922, 1935 is quite recent to me!

Ahhh, I see what you mean now. Sorry

Only trouble is, the route is for RS, not MSTS.
