Well found ... that is the interview that was being recorded whilst we were there and they even got the sooty bang that made us all jump. I think this shot was soon after that bang as the interviewer sat on the front of the loco -
Lyd was not pulling any services that day but according to the interview she will be running a service today with the first train running at just about the same time as I am writing this.
The next stage will be to see her in her proper final livery.

That's mostly down to the people operating it down south who for the most part aren't experienced FR loco crews. Oil firing is harder than people think.
It will be painted green after a couple of brief appearnaces at the Festiniog vintage weekend on the 10th and 12th of October.

3 of the 4 men who were manning Lyd in Cornwall are experienced regulars on the FR....

They are regular volunteers not regular loco crews only Paul Lewin is passed as a driver on the Ffestiniog and the only one with real oil firing experience, hence minor explosions and clouds of smoke. They are all quite capeable of operating a steam loco its just the oil firing that requires a little guidance from those in the know. James may have built the thing but learning how to work it is completly different.

Tim, do you have any pics showing detail of the handbrake mechanism at the frames, I having difficulty working out the mechanics of it. Thanks.

I made some errors in the motion, remade some parts and promptly screwed part of the motion. Hence..........

This render shows a new setup of the Joy motion. I lost my compass protractor, so I'll need to buy one in town this afternoon, this will allow me to check the angle of the Joy motion rods off the drawing. I'll never swear at Walschaert motion again.
At least with the MW project I can clone the basic model for each of the four lokeys required for the L&BR.

Hmmm, I bought two new protractors, luckily they were cheap, and I was able to check the degrees off the drawing, hoping it's accurate, and translate that into the position on the model.
The results looks similar to the previous render, which was my interpretation based on guessitmation.

Remember that in NZ the degrees are upside down in relation to UK so ensure that you subtract one from from the other and then add the number you first thought of
This is coming on very well, most of the hard work seems to have been done.
