Looking for some Orenstein and Koppel locos

Post by photons66 »

Hi

I have searched everywhere but I can't find any Orenstein and Koppel 0-6-0 NG trains. Do any exist please?

Thanks.

Whicj ones had you in mind? The Matheran 0-6-0Ts were built by O&K, but they aren't the classic German NG engine

Similar to Elf from the Leighton Buzzard railway if that helps.

No - I'm afraid that I've not come across anything like it. Anybody else?

Thanks anyway. It's a shame because its a fascinating loco, being able to run on wood. (well used to before they converted it to coal).

I have just had an idea! Douglas on the Talyllyn railway is an Andrew Barclay locomotive but is very similar to the Orestein and Koppel locomotives. It is on the Talyllyn CD

There's one at least preserved in running order in NZ, it's 3ft 6in gauge (AFAIK), and it's a 0-4-0. I can't put my hand on the right book at the moment. They were running (number?) in Samoa in WW1, according to one article I've read. Samoa was a German Territory at the time.

Cheers Bazza

PS Google.

I was not quite sure whether we are looking for real locos or MSTS models. The first of Bazza's recommended links has a list of all preserved or believed to be preserved O&K locos; I had not realised that so many were in the UK

Why would anyone want an O&K loco anyway they're nearly as bad as Bagnalls :D
As far as im aware their's a real shortage of small european industrial loco models. A a few Decavilles (is that how you spell it) and a jung diesel but apart from that not much. Would be good if someone finds something out there.

Tim,

The O&K locos are different and have some character about them! And I was responsible for the installation of the first O&K lift installtion in UK, and it was excellent!
