It is not easy to find suitable cabviews for narrow gauge locos. The chief roblems are that they on the prototypes they are generally fairly simple and that for 2' gauge locos in particular the forward view is above the firebox and boiler barrel, rather than alongside as in larger locos. A number of alternative cabviews have backheads too high to match the originals,. And whilst the prototype NG loc may have a simple control layout, some of the available cabviews are a little too unsophisticated.
I tend to use the "genericNGcabs/medium/gwncabhun", for locos with rectangular spectacle frames and HRPT cab for those with circular spectacle frames Doesanyhone know of better fits?
I have not yet found a suitable cab for a cabless loco though I am sure that I have seen one somewhere.
The Double Fairlie locos, with their peculiar cabs arranged on either side of the firebox present a particular problem At the moment I am usingthe gencabhun for these

The problem is that, to borrow from Dr Johnson, "to make MSTS cab views is dull work". There are 2 other variants on the mid size generic cabs, one of which has round windows (I couldn't find anything that required an arched window so I left that alone). The Welshpool Dougal has an open cab, and could be borrowed, but (as an early attempt) isn't very sophisticated. I have recently eperimented with an open variant on the generic theme, specifically for the Scottish gasworks Barclay, Jack.

As with the others, the controls (which are the soul destroying bit) are the same, the diference lies in the engine "background)
If there is any interest, I could finish the job and upload it.

jefran,
I for one would be interested in the avaiolabnlity of the open cab you show. At a pinch it would do for vertical boiler locos, another oddity.
