Hi Muz,
No, I don't think so - but you're right - the bridge does seem huge by comparison. I'm not happy with the footbridges anyway - some sort of pedestrian crossing will be more in keeping with the character of the line.
I also need to build a tramway loco and maybe a railcar of some description...
Cheers,
Mike

One of the features of RS is the graphic detail capability but on the other hand, it is not that easy to 'get away' with anything placed without thought.
I would disagree with that statement. when it comes to bushes and animals randomness rules supreme. (within reason)
by far the best way to place a heard of say sheep is to select the sheep object, click on the ground, drag the mouse to one side, release and repeat as fast as possible. then simply deleat any sheep that lie outside the boundaries.
bushes and trees, yes I agree they do require a little thought, but overlapping different kinds of bushes, weeds and trees with a bit of random placement yield excellent results with little effort.

Hi Robert
You are correct about the randomness of nature but I was thinking more about man made structures. Buildings need to sit on the ground, fences also need to be on the ground and joins need to be made neatly and seamlessly. Equipment on stations has to be placed carefully so that when viewing from a train, everything looks right. That sort of thing.
Going back to nature, however, certainly in this part of the world farms are quite neatly kept and the hedges around fields, for example, are neatly trimmed each spring. There are definite edges to the fields and very few are given over to scrub. There is still a certain amount of randomness but Surrey farmers don't like that very much!
My point was that close up to the tracks in particular, objects need to to be chosen and placed carefully otherwise they can look quite wrong when playing the game.

I agree with both of you, to an extent. The problem is that what seems to be random on the surface isn't always. Sheep actually cluster together in the field (Bazza would know all about this) - it's the 'herd instinct'. Rather than just whacking down bird objects, I try to cluster them around a tree, for example.
Anyway the great part about this hobby is that we can do what we like, within reason...

Hi
No sheep in this shot but this is my quarry transfer station where crushed rock is transferred to standard gauge.
The passenger train generates a little extra income from tourists.

(Bazza would know all about this)
Of course, I can neither confirm, nor deny, the above statement, but I'm always greeted by a cheerful 'baaaazzza'

I posted this in the general forum for KRS but have had no takers, maybe here in the narrow gauge will produce a response.
Does anyone want the source files for all of my Welshpool and Llanfair rolling stock to convert to KRS? I am afraid that I am still a zillion years from being able to do it myself, if ever but I would love to see them available to a wider audience.
I have both Beyers, freight wagons, passenger coaches in two liveries and the Diema diesel. I also have a started project for modern narrow gauge Diemas, passenger and freight stock (container flats & containers, hopper wagons etc) for a fictitious modern ng route that I never finished.
These are free to a good home and, with a bit of acknowedgement to the work I did, I would love to see them on offer to the RS community.
Drop me a PM or reply here if anyone is interested.

Hi Paul
It is at times like this that I wish I were a 3D modeller.
I really do hope that someone takes up your offer.

Hi, are the source files 3d canvas or max?

They were created using TSM, but can be exported to 3 D Canvas.
I have done one as such but can't remember how at this moment in time.

I've just picked up again on this thread and it's a bit out of date.....any progress on the route? I have ship models suitable for the harbour scene if you're interested.
Cheers Bazza
PS I've just reinstalled RS and patches.

Harbour scene? Have the sea levels in the UK risen while I have been in Holland this week? Is it safe to go back?

I think if you were in Holland you'd know if the sea level had risen - half the country'd be flooded...
