600mm route

Post by CRQ5508 »

Hey everyone. I'm new here, but some of you may know me from the train-sim forums. I was wondering if someone could help me out. Where can I find a good European 600mm route? I came across several 600mm locomotives and would like a route to run them on. I know there had been a couple over here at UK Train Sim, but I'm not even sure what to look for. Thanks!

When you say European do you mean continental Europe or does Britain count too, if the latter then there are the Ffestiniog, the Tallyllyn, the Corris Cross Fell (which is a fictional reservoir construction railway) that are available for Download from the main UKTS page, (Ffestiniog and Tallylyn are also available as community CDs for £6.50 with a £2 donation going to the respective railway societies) I'm unsure about Continental European routes apart from the Somme line (can't remember its name even though I have it, or for that matter where I got it from) I'm sure someone Else could help better though.

All the above are 2X scale there are truescale routes, such as Piddington (UKTS), Southwold (3ft prototype, UKTS) and a few others, (unsure how many though)

Hope this helps a little bit?

yes it does help. I should have been a little more specific. I'll give those a try. When they say 600mm gauge, would that be considered what we call 2 ft gauge? If my calculations are correct, 600mm is about 1.96 feet.

The Ffestiniog is perhaps the most famous 2ft Gauge line, which can be downloaded or bought on a community CD as I said above, there is plenty of stock for it, mainly by Kevin Martin and also others (Tim Elsby, Bruce Brayne to name two) I believe Cross Fell is nominally 2ft so looks OK with 2X 2ft stock, I myself was doing a replica of the Vale of Rheidol but unfortunately I had problems with the DEM data to terraform the landscape before losing the lot with a computer crash though this may yet happen (MSTS is NOT dead) it will be a while before it does come about as I need to get "on site" to get some prototype photographs.

As I've said, maybe some other members could suggest other 2ft gauge routes?
