Thats correct Kevin,

Due to a number of issues with the route editing software MSTS comes with the SPSTS Welsh Highland Project was shelved many many moons ago. I (and im sure Bruce will empathise with me on this one) have no intention of starting it again :). If you dredge back through the forum search you can find the forum the project had back in 2005/2006. Reasons for why it stopped are all listed in there.

.... however just to prove it wasnt all vapourware here is a shot from a few years ago of Garret 143 departing Caernarfon

I am indeed still around Kev, and in fact am working away on something quite hard at the moment, however will release details of that soon! The Garratt does look a little bit old now, time for a revamp now that 87 is up and running?

Looks like it could of been a great route, damn shame it never came through.

The problem is pre MSTS Bin, with it's better memory management. I wonder if that would have cured whatever was wrong?

Cheers Bazza

PS Was Gelert a Manning Wardle?

Let's not rush the post, shall we establish first if she is, or isn't, a Many Waddle?

Cheers Bazza

Gelert is a Bagnall, wks no 3050 of 1953, supplied to the Rustenburg Platinum Mines in the Transvaal - as is her slightly older sister,Moel Tryfan. They have 2 other sisters from 1948 one in the UK and the other in Johannesburg, though the 2 that went to India from the batch were probably not so fortunate. The design looks to me to be an enlargement of the Cliffe Hill engines Mary and Jack nearly 40 years earlier.

Eeerm not sure - ive still got it on CD somewhere, the issues we had were due to MSTS not handling Snowdonia very well, it didnt like x2 scale mountain-ous terrain on tile boundries if i remember correctly and threw the terrain into chaos, seemingly always around plas-nant, not to mention a host of other issues which on top of the terrain eventually lead to us deciding to abandon it....

Well the Snowdon route (which I have a WIP copy of), has fully accurate terrain and it handles it alright on my BIN setup.

Worth a thought maybe
