A Corris remake

A piccie of a (very much, wip) remake of my Corris no 1 loco.
I'm using this project to try and rekindle my interest in making trainsim stuff and also evaluate the latest version of Canvas Pro.
Sorry for the render but it's the only way i can get all the details to show clearly.

I doubt it.
Thats Corris 3, with the rebuilt cab it was given at the Talyllyn Railway in perservation.

I know, but it'd be nice to run this on the Talyllyn.
I can't imagine a cab being too hard to throw together as an alternative download version.

Not speaking for Kevin here, but I imagine theres a lot more than the cab to do in converting it to TR3!
That aside, a nice model Kevin!

I'm certainly going to try and finish this one off!
Making a cab isn't a problem, as I've already made Corris 1,2 and 3 in the past (2&3 as cabbed versions). Also the TR model of Sir Haydn previously made, is Corris no 3 repainted to represent how it looked when first running on the TR.
The problem with the current Sir Haydn is that it has been considerably altered from its Corris condition and there appear to be no plans available of it in this condition. I've even asked the Talyllyn to no avail (though, I might try them again).
By the way Andrew, whats the other loco?

Hi Kevin,
My favourite locos of all time are the Hunslet “Ladies” from any period of history, Penrhyn of Ffestiniog.
As a matter of note (and certainly not meant as criticism), the Corris loco boilers are waisted in at the firebox (like “Tallylyn” and “Dolgoch”) too fit between the frames and not sit on top as you have modelled (like “No 4 Edward Thomas”).
Interestingly also, the rear vacuum hose came out through the rear cabsheet access hole. Odd, but there you go!!!
I have some superb photos of this engine as running on the Corris if you are interested?

A few shots from the book (greatly optimized for the web), the first shows one of the trio as yet un-modified to an 0-4-2 and also well pre vacuum fitted.
The second is also unidentified but shows some cab detail and, if you look closely, the vacuum hose in the bottom left quadrant of the cab-sheet hole!!!

Many thanks for the info on the firebox.
Thinking about it, I should have some pictures of TR no 3's cab/firebox. Will have to try and dig them out.

Would have to agree with you about the Penrhyn Ladies. Superb locos. I think Andrew Lamin is making a model of Charles and am looking forward to seeing that finished. I might even get around to updating Linda and Blanche one day.

Now that the Dolgoch problem has been sorted, I've been able to get back and do a bit more modelling on the Corris loco. Refined some of the basic shapes and added some extra detailing.

Will MSTS handle all those bolts?
Not that the poly count is the issue, it's just it can be quite picky when it comes to small objects.

The poly limit on MSTS went up recently

20 to 24K is now the max for 3D canvas models at the moment.
Once I have my shape fixing program working, the rest should go up too, possibly even higher.
