Explore OK but activity crashes

Post by mgreenland »

Hi all,

I have done a quick search but have not found an answer to a problem I have not come across before. I am sure it has been sorted many times already though, so I ask your patience with me.

I have recently downloaded a terrific model which installs perfectly (complete with it's own consist) and runs and looks great in 'explore' mode. I then use AE to create an activity (Light Engine - no other stock involved) and a new consist to go with it. This instantly crashes the sim when I click on it to try it out. The Activity background doesn't even go yellow! If I don't get to it quickly enough, Ctrl,Alt,delete doesn't work and the only way out is to 'reset' the computer.

Even though I consider it cannot be the model itself (since it runs lovely in 'explore' mode), I have redownloaded it a couple of times with exactly the same results. I have changed the .eng file and the shape file to ones that I know are OK, without success. I have since downloaded other models and not encountered any of these types of problems.

Any ideas to get it working? Thanks.

Better yet - a friendly moderator will quite happily move this thread to the Narrow Gauge forum and leave a shadow thread here ;-)

Kindest regards

Which route are you running on?

(I'm very glad that you like the engine by the way)

Hi Jefran,

It is on the Cross Fell route at the moment. I have a feeling my problems are down to commas and/or inverted commas in the act or srv files but why it should suddenly kick off over these particular models, I have no idea.

Martin,

I have just loaded the route - something I should have done ages ago as its nobbut just up t'road, so if you would like to send me your activity, I'll see if I can run it. I've never run an activity before, so this will be a first!
