My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Yes, it sounded great.
One youtube clip of the Toy Train has a whistle blast too, very musical.

Why not make it to 2x scale, so that it would work on the Ffestiniog route? The track gauge would then, effectively, be 2ft 4.5" which is not that far off 2ft 6". You could then use SFM to scale it down to run on truescale routes as well. (Or Vice versa, of course)CaptainBazza wrote:Any ideas on the track gauge I should use, so I can correctly scale the loco?

I can post detail shots taken today later! Acording to what is in the air around the works, the loco is to be re-gauged. It's smaller than it looks in the photos.

Little Chu Chu.......greets the world
I started the project last night while you were napping, and I have the drivers and frames done, plus the cab sides. The only drawing I have shows the right side elevation only so I'm not sure of the o/a width, but in the video shots she looks tall and skinny. What sort of clearances would be usual for this type of locomotive? I guess the cab must be about six feet to six ft six in wide?
The huge space under the unsupported boiler looks strange at first. (No support brackets.)
Cheers Bazza

As an outsidce framed loco of relatively small size, there is vEry little scope for regaugIng to a smaller track.
