Problem with The Southwold Railway installation.

Post by earwigo »

I have downloaded the .exe file and the .d files for this route, but when I first ran the .exe file I had forgotten to remove the "UKTS_FILEID_" extensions, and the program stopped, reporting that it could not be installed because the file contains "invalid data". I then removed the file extensions and tried again with no success.
I tried doing a system restore, but still could not get the install to work. When I try the uninstall facility of the control panel, I just get a message that there is a fault, and I cannot uninstall whatever bits of the program the computer thinks are there. All other MSTS routes work O.K.
I really wanted this route, so could anyone out there please help me?
Many thanks in anticipation of some help!
Stuart.

Have you followed the instructions to the letter?

In order to install this route you must have Microsoft Train Simulator installed on your computer. You must also have all default routes installed as well. If these are not installed then the route will not work.

1. Download and Install XTracks (http://www.xtracks.tk) from UKTrainSim.com.
2. Download and Install UK Finescale Track, available from either http://www.trainsimfiles.com or UKTrainSim.com.
PLEASE NOTE WITHOUT XTRACKS AND UK FINESCALE INSTALLED THE ROUTE WILL NOT WORK.
3. Download ALL 5 parts of the install file. Remove the "UKTS_FILEID_" extensions from the file names. Make sure all these parts are located in the same folder.
4. Run “SouthwoldRailway.exeâ€

Hello,
Many thanks for your posting.
I have done everything as per what you said, and still get the same error!

Strange, Dont know why so many people get problems installing this one. Works fine every time I try it. Download all 5 parts, rename them and run the exe installer and it *should* work fine. As has been said, a complete MSTS install is needed though as it uses models from all of the default routes.

One we meant to put onto a community CD and never got round to it.
