To be honest it was the first time, I was suposed to be working in the works, but was told I couldn't do the job I was suposed to (politics - don't ask).

I have to say I quite enjoyed it, was very relaxing, sunny but cold, and with no rumbling burners and "that smell" extremely pleasent.

I actually cleaned one of the tank for the first time before the driver forgot about the hose - when its been there for 30 and half filling up you tend to forget its there!

To answer Earl1s point, our water is not clean, it is a treated and the water treatment shows up quite quickly as white streaks. But dryed up and re-polished does the trick, and it doesn't take as long as the first time.

So having got fed up with the workshop and enjoying preparing the loco it looks as if I'm set to join the loco department... along with everyone else  Still as someone pointed out, its nice to be able to fire, even if you don't necessarily do it that often.

Nice photos William, I've got a couple but they don't warrant a collection all on their own, maybe I'll post them up here if I get the time.

Cheers,
Bruce (First Time Cleaner )

Thanks Bruce.

P.S. Atleast it only overflowed once on you, i think they need to seal those lids with ruber stuff so it doesn't just pop out!

The worst is when the driver is oiling up underneath the loco, and the tanks start to overflow, on an SG loco, you can gaurantee they're balanced on the motion in a position which they can't get out of, and eventually come out soaked, you sheepishly retreat into the nice warm cab with a smile on your face...................
