Ffestiniog has managed standard and narrow gauge and still looks good.

The consensus seems to be towards truescale. Might I suggest you create a test route (always a good idea for trying out ideas!), try creating complex trackwork in both and also fairly tight bends and such like.. See which easier, and then times that by 11 miles... Altering stock and making models to fit is the easy bit

I don't think any one needs my opinion as to which scale!!!!!
A point to bear in mind, getting good loco physics is a lot easier in TrueScale.
Dale, I might even be up for a little scenery building?????
