Yes indeed, Caledonia... no I , one critisism, the chimmney looks a bit too big? Looked at some of my pics of the engine, and it certainly looks a little oversize.

So who's going to attempt the MNR Tuscan Red, with the ornate lining work around the nameplate, as per the 1995 - 2003 livery?

Chris

Edit: Hate to point this out, but its also a much darker blue in real life. Almost RAF Prussian Blue/ Navy Blue.

From the MERS website... about a true colour for Cale', as can be seen she also currently carries the No.15 on the chimney, running as IoMR 15 at the moment as opposed to her other guise as MNR No.4! Confusing a bit...

Hi Reg
And there I was about to say that I thought that was a 'stunning shade of blue'...hope you release it in that shade....even if you deceide to darken it.
Cheers

Lovely model, though i still think the chimney looks a little on the thick side, when compared with the photo.

The chimney needs to taper to a smaller diameter at the top - see Chris's pic to see what I mean.

Wonderful! Another fine Beyer Peacock product and in blue, too. (Two of my favourites, but they don't usually go together as well as this combo.) Let's have lots more 3ft, both Manx and Irish.

Oh bother - yes, you're absolutely right. I was thinking about all those IoMR 2-4-0Ts. Dubs was indeed the builder and its stable-mates on the MNR were Sharpies. I suppose you could consider the MNR locos to be related by marriage as Dubs and Sharps eventually merged into the North British.

BP 2-4-0Ts also ran in Ireland - on the B&LR, from which one eventually migrated further west to the Castlederg & Victoria Bridge. The B&LR also had an impressive 2-6-0ST from Gorton, nicknamed 'The Bruiser', a design that could have gone down rather well on the W&LLR if regauged. And of course the first NCC 2-4-2T 2 cylinder compounds were from BP - a shame one wasn't preserved. In fact BP was the largest commercial supplier of locos in the Emerald Isle .. but I'm straying from the topic.

Nice engines, the MNR sharpies (hint, hint  )... The MNR did have one Peacock, No 3 (IoMR 14) Thornhill. I suppose she could easily be created by re-skinning Sutherland...but that may have to wait for another day...
