A couple of points, the footwell should be almost level with the front windows. this might be the cause of my other point that the loco looks too tall. the link below show you a profile of the loco and shows the footwell level with the cabside and front windows.

Otherwise it has the makings of a great model of 14. once perfected it shoudnt be too hard to create 12 as well.
Keep up the good work!

Cheers for that. I can see what you mean about the front footwell being too small. I will edit that and try and upload it when I can work out TSM 1.1!

Coming on really well. When you look at the pictures at the start of the projects and the shots of it on the PLR they look like totally different engines!
If you need another tester I'll do it - but I imagine you have enough!

Hi Bubble,
Being critical the loco appears to be too low on the track, you are missing the narrow windows facing backwards from the cab (otherwise the driver would have to lean out the window when driving bonnet first
), and the couplings and vacuum pipes are missing.
Just for infomation the real loco is fitted with chain couplings and vacuum brakes (No.12 is the same & PW3 also has chain coulpings and is only fitted with a hand brake)
Other than that excellent work,

Having tested the loco I do have a few issues, but they are minor and easily fixed. Firstly, the stripes on the front still do not line up and second, the bottom strip of brass on the namplate has got cut off. Also the max speed is 50mph-possibly a little fast for a 15" loco?
Apart from that, great work, please keep it up!
Can we please all agree to standardise 15" locos to chain couplings? All 15" locos built so far have been so fitted, and it would be nice if we could keep that going. I might put a post in the "narrow gauge standardisation" sticky.Just for infomation the real loco is fitted with chain couplings and vacuum brakes
Apart from that, great work, please keep it up!

Cheers for all of your comments guys! I will make those changes as soon as possible!

So do I no't have to change it then?!trainmad wrote:It's built to 2x scale, so the speed will be double 25mph, which is obviously 50mph.

Some shape bits you might like to alter - The footwell does not meet the cab and the cab roof does not touch the cab.
Also, I think the roof needs to be a bit more straight edged as opposed to semicircular - ] as opposed to )
Apart from that, everything else has been pretty much been mentioned.
Tom
EDIT: Could I have a fiddle with the .ENG file? I think I could get some decent lights working, and I might use the same idea as in R&ER Lady Wakefield where "Headout" is head in!
Oh, and one more proposal - I don't suppose an alternative texture could be used for the buffers themselves? Tom.

I think somebody is missing the point, RH&DR Loco's are 1/3 scale, they travel at a maximum of 25 mph (i.e. 1/3 of 75 mph).trainmad wrote:It's built to 2x scale, so the speed will be double 25mph, which is obviously 50mph.
obviously the MSTS model should have a maximum speed of 25 mph not 50 mph

The MSTS model is built to 2x the scale of the actual engine, this is to make it fit the available track sections, think of it as a 24 in to the foot scale model. If you make the loco twice as big you have to make the track twice as long and the loco has to go twice as fast. The scale of the real loco is not important after all there really 1/1 greenly pacifics.

I have just finished doing all of the other upgrades so I'll quickly have a go at that then... (See under next quote!BluebellStepney wrote:Some shape bits you might like to alter - The footwell does not meet the cab and the cab roof does not touch the cab.

I'll do the changes above and then send it to you!BluebellStepney wrote:EDIT: Could I have a fiddle with the .ENG file? I think I could get some decent lights working, and I might use the same idea as in R&ER Lady Wakefield where "Headout" is head in!
